Panther Message
Dear Panthers,
It was so nice to see all of the staff and families who attended our 5th-grade musical and Multicultural Night. These were great events that helped to build a more united and cohesive community. During Multicultural Night, we had performances from Mexico, Japan, and a wonderful Pacific Island student dance group. The food that was served was from Lebanon, adding to the diversity and cultural richness of our evening. A big shout out to Andrew Neal from SUN School for his efforts in making this event so enjoyable for our school community.
On Tuesday Night, we had an amazing musical performance by our 5th-grade students. This evening highlighted the incredible efforts of our beloved music teacher Ms. Lampe. Students did an excellent job of singing and demonstrating their musical talent for their families. I would like to thank all parents for coming out and supporting our school as we continue to work on building a positive school culture for students.
No School On Monday, Memorial Day
Memorial Day is an American holiday, observed on the last Monday of May, honoring the men and women who died while serving in the U.S. military. Memorial Day 2023 will occur on Monday, May 29. Originally known as Decoration Day, it originated in the years following the Civil War and became an official federal holiday in 1971. Many Americans observe Memorial Day by visiting cemeteries or memorials, holding family gatherings, and participating in parades. Unofficially, it marks the beginning of the summer season.
Field Trips
We take student safety seriously at Parklane, and when students are taken out into the community, we expect them to behave in an appropriate manner that is safe and responsible. If a student isn’t being safe at school, he/she/they may be asked to invite a parent in order to attend the field trip. If a student’s behavior at school is unsafe or inappropriate at school and a parent can’t attend, that student may be asked not to attend the field trip because of safety concerns. We want all students to have access to field trips, but if students cannot be safe on field trips, they could lose out on the privilege of attending school field trips.
Students left at Dismissal Time
Lately, some students have been left at school at dismissal time without a ride. This creates confusion for the students and our staff when students are left at school without a plan of how they’re to get home. Please make sure to pick your student up at school at 2:27 PM when students are dismissed. If there is an emergency, please call the school and let the office know if you won’t be able to pick students up at dismissal.
Lost Coats:
We have several bags of lost coats in the office. If your child has lost their coat, please come to the office to look through the bags to see if your child’s coat is in one of the bags. If these coats are not claimed by the end of the school year, they will be donated to our district's clothing closet.
*Please do not double park in front of the school during dismissal. Please park and walk up to pick up your students. Please use crosswalks to cross the street in front of our school, do not walk through traffic, and obey the speed limit.

Asian American-Pacific Islander Heritage Month
AAPI Heritage Month began in 1977 as a ten-day celebration of Asian Pacific American contributions to this country. In 1992, President George H.W. Bush signed a law expanding the celebration to the entire month of May. The observance commemorates two events: The arrival of the first Japanese immigrants to the United States on May 7, 1843 and the completion of the Transcontinental Railroad, largely built by Chinese immigrants, on May 10, 1869.
