MEMORIAL VIKINGS WITH HEART USE HONESTY*EFFORT*ATTITUDE* RESPECT*TEAMWORK
Dear Memorial Parents and Guardians,
It is hard to believe that the school year is almost over. As I reflect, I am amazed at the growth the students have made this year and even more amazed at the growth that the fifth graders have shown since walking in on their first day of kindergarten. This fifth grade class was present during the school construction project, re-districting, and Covid-19. Some came to Memorial as second graders from Central and Hayes Leonard Elementary, as we went from 2 classes to 3 at each grade level. The more the merrier, we thought! It was so much fun watching them grow and learn and it will be bittersweet sending them to middle school.
I would like to thank the PTO board and all the committee chairpersons who volunteered their time and talents to provide fun activities and support for the students and staff. It was an interesting journey as we began implementing some of our pre-Covid activities such as Trunk or Treat, the Scholastic Book Fair, Saturday Night Live, the family dinner and skating nights, the fifth grade celebration at Zao Island, and class parties. I think I can speak for the entire staff and say that we are VERY grateful for your help and support.
As we look towards summer, I would like to remind you to please review your child's final report card available on the Skyward Parent Portal On Friday, June 3. I would also suggest that you print it out for your files. If you need help finding it, you may call the school office until June 10. As soon as ILEARN parent reports are available for students in grades 3-5, we will make sure that you get a copy. We will also let you know as soon as the dates for registration are released. Mrs. Remijan and I will return to school on July 18. If you need help during the summer you can send me an email and I will get back to you as soon as I can.
We will be sending out information soon on the summer Reading and Writing Challenge. I hope that you will be able to encourage your child to continue reading and writing through the summer. But most of all, I hope that you have lots of fun playing!
Your Partner in Education,
Mrs. Debra Misecko, Principal
