Mayo Clinic Healthcare Career Festival- 10/7/14
The Mayo Clinic Health Care Career Festival offers students the opportunity to explore a wide range of exciting career opportunities in a festive, engaging atmosphere. It's a fun day of learning, sharing and hands-on experience that provides career awareness education, information on career fields and opportunities to use patient care equipment. The festival features:
- Mayo Clinic department and career booths
- College and postsecondary education booths
- Seminars on specific career fields

Mayo Clinic Explorers Program, October-March
The Medical Exploring Program offered through Mayo Clinic and the Learning for Life Division of the Boy Scouts of America offers students in the Rochester and surrounding area an opportunity to learn about careers in health care through presentations and hands-on experiences.
Mayo Clinic invites KM students to the Exploring Orientation informational meeting in (tentatively) October 27, 2014 from 6:30pm – 7:30pm in the Harwick Cafeteria, Harwick Building, Mayo Clinic to learn more about this opportunity and to enroll. Attendance at the informational meeting is a prerequisite for participation in the Mayo Clinic Exploring Program. Annual cost for the program is $15.00 and scholarship funding is available for students with economic hardships. The Mayo Clinic Explorers are scheduled to meet on Monday’s from 6:30PM-8:00PM, November through March, 1-2 times per month. Mayo Clinic Young Volunteers Program
Mayo Clinic Young Volunteers provides volunteer opportunities in both clinic and hospital settings. The program is open to students ages 14 to 18. As a volunteer in Mayo Clinic Young Volunteers, you'll provide patients, visitors and staff with hospitality, services and amenities that would not otherwise be available to them. In addition, you'll have opportunities to access health care career information firsthand by attending presentations and tours arranged by Mayo Clinic Young Volunteers. The minimum volunteer time commitment is one year. You are required to complete one regularly scheduled shift a week for at least 32 weeks during your one-year commitment. Some leave of absence time may be arranged with the coordinator to allow for participation in sports, band, clubs or other activities. Shifts are from 3:30 to 5 p.m. on weekdays.
HOSA (Health Occupations Students of America)
Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA), is a national career and technical student organization endorsed by the U.S. Department of Education and the Health Occupation Education Division of the Association for Career and Technical Education. Nationally, there are more than 66,000 members. Minnesota is one of 36 states affiliated with the national organization specifically designed for students pursuing health occupations.
HOSA's mission: to promote career opportunities in the health-care industry and to enhance the delivery of quality health care to all people.
Some annual events organized by Minnesota HOSA include: Fall Advisor Workshop, Fall Delegate Assembly, Mid-winter Competitive Event, Science Museum Day, Spring Leadership Conference and Spring Advisor Workshop. A national leadership conference is held every June, which provides students with an opportunity to compete nationally while showcasing and developing their skills.
