November 9-13 - National School Psychology Week

The National Association of School Psychologists (NASP) has designated November 9-13, 2020, as National School Psychology Week. This year’s theme is "Power of Possibility." School psychologists connect with students and staff to highlight how focusing on possibilities can help lead us to our goals, our interests, and our positive growth.

SISD receives $108K in grant funds

During the October school board meeting, Sheldon ISD celebrated achieving three grants listed below:

  1. Carroll, Garrett, and Sheldon Elementary are the recipients of the 2020-21 CASE Partnership Project grant. These funds are provided in partnership with Harris County Department of Education, the Gulf Coast Workforce Development Board, and the Texas Workforce Commission. Each campus will received $15,000 to support the implementation of the after-school program which focuses on academics, social emotional learning, and enrichment activities that promote and support the teaching and learning process beyond the school day.
  2. Sheldon ISD is the recipient of the HCDE Partners in Education Project Grant Award in the amount of $13,538. The funds will support Sheldon On Demand by purchasing 50 additional devices for student checkout with priority given to students identified as homeless. The Partners in Education Project is funded by Harris County Department of Education, in collaboration with the Education Foundation of Harris County.
  3. Sheldon ISD is the recipient of the 2020-2021 Lone Star STEM Cycle 3 Year 1 Grant in the amount of $50,000 to support the expansion of College and Career Readiness School Models (CCRSMs) at C. E. King High School. The focus of the grant is to expand STEM pathways in computer science and engineering. The partnership includes the Texas Education Agency, Jobs for the Future (JFF), and the University of Texas Center for STEM Education.

All staff are required to conduct a daily self-screener, including checking your temperature before reporting for onsite work. If you are unable to check your temperature at home, report to the front desk when you arrive onsite. Employees are required to report results according to established procedures using this form.

Nominate a fellow employee for the CARE Award

Recognizing excellent customer service

The CARE award stands for Caught Acting and Responding with Excellence and will recognize Sheldon ISD employees who are demonstrating outstanding customer service. This award is in partnership with Woodforest Bank and will be presented to employees quarterly.

HAABSE Virtual Meet and Greet

The Sheldon ISD Houston Area Alliance of Black School Educators (HAABSE) Committee welcomes all staff to join us for a Virtual Meet and Greet at 6 p.m. Thursday, November 12. You do not have to be a member to join us for an evening of virtual fun! Click here to RSVP.

Rosetta Stone classes available for SISD parents

Please encourage SISD EL parents to sign up for Rosetta Stone. The deadline to sign up is November 20, and an informational meeting will be held on December 15. Use the flyer to the left for help promoting.

Donate to the employee scholarship fund

Each year Sheldon ISD employees have contributed to providing scholarships for graduating seniors from King High School through a payroll deduction. Last year, the employee scholarship fund gave $18,000 to deserving seniors. Thank you for making a difference during a time that is so special to our seniors.


A link to this year's payroll deduction form is provided here and any amount you wish to donate is appreciated. Once the form has been completed, please give it to your school secretary or forward to the Payroll Department. Thank you for all the ways you make a difference in the lives of our students.
