Great Things!
Happy birthday to our September birthdays last week!
Head Start and Early Head Start staff participated in CPR/First Aid training and are all up to date now!
We celebrated Bailey and her soon to be little person! Congrats Bailey!
Challenge: Let's think about our own states. When you approach a stressful situation, be a S.T.A.R. Before you react, or interact with the child/children- Stop, Take a Deep Breath, And Relax. Let's make a conscious effort to be a S.T.A.R. this week- with our students, our own children, staff, and family members.
Dates to remember:
September 17: Dental Day
September 18: Happy Birthday Magen!
September 18: Parent Committee meeting 1:00-2:00 (library)
September 19: Fire Drills 9:45/2:45
September 19: Happy Birthday Tammi N!
Nuts-n-Bolts:
*Websites: Friday (Sept 13) was our first official "due date" for updates, next due date: 9-27
*Fire drills for September were scheduled for the 17th (if you marked your calendar from the handbook dates). Because Dental Day is happening on the 17th, we moved the drill to the 19th instead.

Speech and Language Tip of the Week:
Practice having kids fill in the blank on open-ended sentences. This promotes verbal reasoning, expressive vocabulary, and sometimes even humor. See how several kids could complete the same sentence to change the meaning. Examples could include: “I love to eat _____”. “The baby alligator felt very _____”. “I told my sister to give me the _____.” “The boy opened the box and saw a _____.”
Fine Motor Tip of the Week:
Clothespins:
Using clothespins in activities will help students develop pinch and build hand strength. Add to any color, number, or letter matching game. For example, write a letter at the end of the clothespin and have students match to letters of name on a laminated name strip.
