1. INTERNET SAFETY

What is "INTERNET SAFETY?"

Internet safety is the knowledge of maximizing the user's personal safety and security risks to private information and property associated with using the internet, and the self-protection from computer crime in general.

LOUISIANA DIGITAL LITERACY GOALS

One of Louisiana's digital literacy goals is to explain and demonstrate compliance with classroom and school rules regarding responsible use of computers and networks. Students need to be introduced to the fact that there are rules set for their own protection.

IN MY FUTURE CLASSROOM.

In my future classroom I will help my students to understand that one of the first things to internet safety is to follow rules. I will help them to understand that there is major consequences if they some of the rules associated with using the internet.

2. SELF-IMAGE AND IDENTITY

WHAT IS "SELF-IMAGE AND IDENTITY?"

Identity is the fact of being who or what a person or thing is. Self-image is the idea one has of one's abilities, appearance, and personality.It is very important that these two things play a major role in online use.

LOUISIANA DIGITAL LITERACY GOALS

Use a variety of age-appropriate technologies to communicate and exchange ideas. Students need to be introduced to the fact that everything they do on the internet will always be there.

IN MY FUTURE CLASSROOM

In my future classroom I will help students understand that whatever they do on the internet will always be there no matter if it is good or bad. I will post something on the internet (like on the schools facebook or something similar) and ask people to share it to show the students how many people can see what we posted and how far it can travel.

3. CYBER-BULLYING AND DIGITAL DRAMA

WHAT IS "CYBER-BULLYING AND DIGITAL DRAMA?"

Cyber-bullying is the use of electronic communication to bully a person, typically by sending messages of an intimidating or threatening nature. Digital drama is phrase that refers to forms of abuse and violence among people in the technology world.

LOUISIANA DIGITAL LITERACY GOALS

Identify cyber-bullying and describe strategies to deal with such a situation. It is important for people to know what to do when they find themselves or someone they know being cyber-bullied.

IN MY FUTURE CLASSROOM

In my future classroom I will help students understand why cyber-bullying is a big deal. Student need to know that it is not okay to be mean to people online or offline. I will help them to be able to identify cyber-bullying and teach them what actions to take against it. I will let them know that I am always available to talk to if they need it.
