Back to School edition
Message from the Principal
Hello Yellowjackets!
We are looking forward to welcoming back our students on September 8th!
Our teachers and staff have been back on campus preparing for both in person and CFISD Connect virtual learning. I would like to share a few things with you that will be different this school year. I am also sharing a few pictures at the bottom of this newsletter so you can see some of the safety measures we have in place.
In Person Classrooms - Thanks to the moveable "walls" purchased by Yeager PTO several years ago, we were able to redesign the inside of the building to make social distancing easier. We have significantly enlarged our classrooms for in person learning due to our current numbers from the Return to School Questionaire and have created smaller spaces for CFISD Connect teachers.
Schoology - We are very excited to launch Schoology when students return to school with our in person and virtual learners! Teachers, students and parents will use this platform to help facilitate in person learning and our CFISD Connect.
Large Group Classes - In order to make our "large group" classes (PE, Art and Music) smaller, we have created a fifth group in the rotation. This year we will have 2 PE groups, Art, Music and Library/Yoga/Mindfulness. Students in K-5 will attend one rotation per day. The new rotation will be spending half the time with our librarian and the other half of the time with one of our counselors working on yoga and mindfulness activities. At this time our largest group for these rotations is 12 students which will allow us to practice social distancing and follow our sanitation protocols.
Recess -In person learners will continue to have daily recess, weather permitting. We have adjusted the schedule to make our recess groups smaller. We will not start the year using the playground equipment.
Lunch - This school year, all Yeager students will qualify for free breakfast and lunch as part of the CEP (Community Eligibility Provision ). Due to COVID-19, students will not be able to purchase a la carte items at this time.
Water Bottles - Our water fountains are closed for drinking, but we are excited that we are having four water bottle filling stations installed prior to school start. Your child is encouraged to bring a water bottle from home which they can fill at school as needed.
You can always find more information and resources on the CFISD website at www.cfisd.net.
Best regards,
Laura Barrett, Principal

Modification of “Use of Face Mask” Protocol
The American Academy of Pediatrics and the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) recently released new guidance strongly endorsing the use of face masks as a proven and effective way to prevent the spread of COVID-19 for children two years of age and older. After carefully reviewing this guidance, CFISD has made several modifications to our “Use of Face Mask” protocol that we believe will strengthen our ability to create a safe learning environment for students and staff.
- All staff and students (grades PK-12) must wear face masks on buses, in hallways, and in common areas. Students will wear a face mask when entering and/or exiting the gym, playground, or activity space and when not actively engaged in physical activity. Additionally, all staff and students (grades PK-12) will be required to wear face masks in the classroom when social distancing is not feasible and/or the teacher’s method for delivery of instruction warrants the use of face masks. All visitors (including parents, contractors, and vendors) will also wear face masks. Face masks will be provided for staff and students if needed.
- Face masks are defined to include non-medical and medical grade disposable face masks and cloth face coverings (over the nose and mouth) that meet the same protection standards as non-medical grade face masks. Additionally, face masks with exhalation valves (vents that allow air to be exhaled through a hole in the material) may only be worn in combination with full-face shields.
- Limited exceptions to these rules will only be made for eating, drinking, therapy, or a medical condition or disability that prevents a person from wearing a face mask. Full-face clear shields as an accommodation may be used in place of a mask to protect eyes, nose, and mouth whenever a face mask is not feasible due to a medical condition or whenever the education context may benefit from the ability to see an individual’s full face.
- Students seeking an exemption from these rules for a medical condition or disability may do so in accordance with Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973. Staff seeking an exemption from these rules for a medical condition or disability may do so in accordance with the Americans With Disabilities Act. Written documentation from a medical provider will be required.
- Face masks must meet the Student Code of Conduct and dress code requirements
Student Devices
If you completed the questionnaire AFTER August 11th AND indicated that your child did not have access to a device AND you are opting for CFISDConnect, our district's technology department is committed to issuing a device to students who are in this situation prior to the first day of school.
All students will eventually be issued a device, whether on-campus or connect. The goal is to have these issued to ALL students by December.
Spirit Shirts
Please use this link to purchase your 2020-2021 Spirit Shirts! We are excited to offer both t-shirts and hoodies this year. Spirit shirts will ONLY be available online this year. We will not be selling spirit shirts on campus. Remember, even if you are starting off the year with CFISD Connect, you will want to show your Yeager Spirit virtually! Our virtual learners will be able to do a drive through pick up.
Virtual Meet the Teacher
This year we will be having a Virtual Meet the Teacher. At noon on Tuesday, September 1st, you will receive an email from your child's homeroom teacher with videos introducing themselves.
Instructions will also be provided at that time on how to sign up for a 10 minute individual Zoom meeting for you, your child, and the teacher (one Zoom per child). Zoom meetings will be scheduled throughout the day on Thursday, September 3rd.
2020-21 Annual Student Information Update - IMPORTANT
This year the district launched the Annual Student Information update, which will replace the paper-based Student Demographic Card/Sheets that are distributed at campuses each year.
This process will reduce the emails or handwritten updated information sent in to the registrars.
Changes in address or other critical information will be held in an electronic file and tagged for the registrar to review.
Parents/Guardians received an email from Information Services with instructions and a unique “snapcode” to use to update the information and it is located in HAC.
School Supplies
If you purchased school supplies and your child is opting for on-campus learning, the supplies will be delivered to their classroom. If your child is opting for CFISD Connect and you purchased supplies from the PTO, please call the school to arrange for a drive-through pick up time.
So that we can be certain students do not have to share supplies for the first day, the school is purchasing some basic supplies for each of the classrooms. We are in the process of revising our school supply lists for virtual and in-person instruction. Don't worry, if you already purchased supplies the list previously provided will be acceptable.
Revised lists will be sent out as soon as possible and no later than Meet the Teacher.

Continued Enrollment Procedures
Apartment and Residential Leases- Current leases must be kept on file for each student for continued enrollment. If your lease has or will expire before the start of the 2020-2021 school year, a current lease will be needed.
All students on a Verification of Address Affidavit that have not completed the second required step of providing 3 documents with the correct address and their name as proof of residence will need to reenroll with a new affidavit and complete step 2. The affidavit is to establish residency for a student who is living with a parent/guardian in a residence that they are not owning/renting. Form must be submitted along with the homeowner's copy of photo ID, current light, gas or water bill along with lease or homeowner verification such as HCAD records or mortgage statements.
Failure to have current, up to date residential documents will result your child not receiving a homeroom assignment and/or starting school on the first day of the 2020-2021 school year.
Paperwork may be sent to our registrar, Bianca Ruiz via email at bianca.ruiz@cfisd.net or for questions about your residence paperwork, you may contact her at 281)587-7508.
