At the end of our SMART Start staff will learn that taking time to build relationships (connections) between student-student, teacher-student and teacher-parent plays a critical part in student achievement. Staff will leave with a list of community building ideas to use in the classroom.

Out and About

I am going to choose one day a week and move out of my office. I am planning on spending one full day with each grade level, another in the library, in the resource rooms and interacting with encore classes. I have several goals - I want to spend quality time observing teaching & learning, providing feedback to teachers and building stronger relationships with the kids. I am sure these days will turn into my favorite days. I will check emails periodically throughout the day. I don't really enjoy sitting back in my office, so I am really looking forward to this new schedule. I plan to start on Tuesday, October 13 with grade 5.
