Music Memory Champions - Anderson Elementary
Our 3rd/4th Grade Music Memory Team not only won its first 1st place trophy but scored 100 points in the Dallas ISD competition—making Anderson one of only two elementary schools to achieve a perfect score.
Music Memory is a UIL contest for elementary students to test their memory skills at naming sixteen classical and jazz music pieces studied during the school year. The contest, held at the Meyerson Symphony Center, features a live orchestra performing the pieces while students name the title and composer.
In his first year to compete, Team Captain Aureus Morel, 3rd-grader, led the Anderson team to total victory. The winning team also includes: 4th-graders Kassandra Rojo and Naleishka Sierra and 3rd-grader Uriel Montes.
The 5th Grade Music Memory Team was represented well by Eric Byrd.
Music Memory Coach Ms. Bell, Anderson Music Teacher, guided the team during weekly after-school practice sessions. The 2016 competition was the first time for our school to win—and we won BIG! Students won not only a huge school trophy but also Olympic-style medals decorated with music notes.

As we approach the fifth six-weeks period, it is important that we convey the professional development requirements to our teachers and staff. Below is the link to the district's website where course offerings can be found. Please be sure our teachers and staff begin to register as the system is now open.
Teachers and staff should use the Individualized Planning Document and Summer Professional Learning and Development Agreement form linked at the website. This will help with the planning process and ensure everyone meets the requirements outlined.
