I hope your holidays were filled with much joy and love. With a new year comes a focus on new resolutions. The New Year is a perfect time to improve ourselves and think about what is really important to us. Maybe it is offering a compliment to someone each day or reading an extra book. News from the PE Office
We had another successful year with our Turkey shoot. Our students raised close to $200.00 to be donated to the Needlework Guild of America (NGA) organization. The students have one minute to make as many baskets as possible.
The winning class in each grade receives the Turkey shoot trophy to be displayed in their classroom for the 2015/ 16 school year.
Thank you for all you do in supporting this wonderful event!

January at Your School Library
MakerSpace meetings start in the School Library beginning in January!
A MakerSpace is a DIY learning center for students to explore and challenge themselves.
Our MakerSpace will focus on S.T.E.A.M. activities, engineering challenges, computer coding, electronic circuitry, and robotics. Students will also be designing and creating showcase displays for our school.
Every 3rd and 4th grader will get a chance to experience the Library MakerSpace. It will occur every Thursday afternoon from January 14 through March 17, 2016. Small groups of students will take turns attending weekly during their scheduled lunch and recess time.
Look for a flyer and a permission slip to come home during the first week of January.
Bucks County Reading Olympics
Two 4th grade teams from WES will be attending the Bucks County Reading Olympics Event in April.
The student team members will be announced in January and will begin meeting during the school day in the Library to prepare for the event. A full information packet will be sent home to the parents of those sixteen.
A big THANK-YOU from the Library to the all the fourth grade parents for supporting the value of reading for pleasure!
A Note from the School Nurse
As cold and flu season begins, please accept this gentle reminder about the school district policy and the Department of Health guidelines on return to school after illness. To prevent re-introduction of illness into the classroom and school setting, you are kindly asked to note the following guidelines.
- Fever of 100 F or higher. Students should return when free of fever for 24 hours, without any fever reducing medication.
- Diarrhea or vomiting during the previous 24 hours. Students should return when free of these symptoms for 24 hours, AND when appetite and energy level have returned to normal.
- Rash with a fever.
- Illness that prevents a child from participating in activities.
It may be winter outside but inside WES we are warm and alive with reading! There are many reading programs going on at Wrightstown right now. Book-it is still going strong! Keep your kids reading up to the class reading goal! We already have some pictures up on our high reader board - come and check it out! Take advantage of winning those Pizza Hut coupons now because the Book-it program only runs until March!
We have another special event happening for the next couple months. Wrightstown is proud to be participating in the Ronald McDonald House Read-a-thon. In honor of Martin Luther King Day, our students will be involved with raising money through reading, as well as creating breakfast bags for the families at the Ronald McDonald House. This program will begin in February and will kick off with a visit from Ronald McDonald! More information will be coming home this month.
