Weekly Update
October 3-7, 2022
Message from the Principal
The leadership class raised a good amount of money for the Ronald McDonald House. We will plan to continue selling drinks and snacks at all of our monthly celebrations.
These monthly celebrations are meant to be rewards for the students for their handwork and good behavior, and we encourage and support competitive spirit among the participants and spectators. Please remind your children that these activities are meant to be fun, and unsportsmanlike conduct and hurtful comments will not be tolerated. Students that show unsportsmanlike conduct will lose their privilege to participate.

Connecting with the Counselor
Our 5th grade students started to learn about the Zones of Regulation. This curriculum helps students develop healthy self-regulation strategies. The first step is having the ability to identify what "zone" a student is in (Red, Yellow, Green or Blue).
Green -- Good to go, ready to learn, focused
Yellow -- Silly, excited, nervous
Blue -- Tired, shy, sluggish
Red -- Angry, frustrated, out of control
Ask your student...
1. What do you remember about the Zones of Regulation
6th, 7th, 8th Grade
As we continue our journey through Executive Functioning, the students focused on Task Initiation.
Task Initiation Is:
- The ability to begin a task right away.
- This means getting started when you need to (even if you don't feel like it).
- With strong task initiation skills, you can get the job, chore, or task done more efficiently.
- Task initiation involves using strategies to overcome procrastination and motivate yourself.
Ask your student...
1. What was your score when you completed your self assessment?
2. After watching this video, ask your student what strategy they said they were going to try.
