Inspiration for the Week

This past week showed great growth in so many individual kiddos! The growth came from our students in intervention and enrichment! I am so proud of all the kids and staff. As I said in the staff meeting, the work isn't over. It is our joy to work with these sweet students for two more months. Remember, if we can stay dedicated and work we can prevent some of the summer slide by helping them grow up until the last day of school. For some of these kids, we are all they have. We are their chance to a better life.

In Mrs. Gentry's class this week, something happened that all need to hear. Literacy teachers were in there with Mrs. Heller. They were having individual conferences with students. One of the students was reading the lyrics to "A Million Dreams". When asked what he liked in that song, he said the lyric "There's a house we can build". He said that was his favorite part because he has never had his own house before. These are the moments that all of you are creating for kids. We are allowing kids to dream and equipping them with a solid education to reach these dreams. Now if that story doesn't light your fire, nothing will! Keep doing GREAT things for kids at the GREATEST school!

Remember what Mike Mattos said, "We are doing more things right than 95% of schools he works with around the world!". Everybody keep striving!!!

  • Fun Day coming up on April 12th. We will be having a "cheesy day" in the lounge for National Cheese Day. We are asking that all staff would bring a cheesy dish for the "Cheesy Cookoff". Each staff member can pay $5 for a plate to try all the treats and vote on the dishes. This fundraiser will go towards our VIP program to take them to Magic Springs for their EOY trip. The winner of the best dish will get a "cheesy" prize! We will also have a hat day on that day for students to pay $1 to wear a hat. This money will also go towards VIP.
  • Make sure to take care of the resources that have been entrusted to your care. We are constantly looking at what other materials need to be purchased. In order to continue this process, you must take care of what you currently have. Make sure students understand to take care of things as well. None of these items purchased with school funds are ours. They belong to Greenbrier Eastside.
  • We are loving the pictures rolling in of engaging activities in your classroom. Keep them rolling in! Email them to Mrs. Manning and myself. We want to continue to tell Eastside's story through social media.
