This year will mark the 18th year of the 5k which raises money for the American Cancer Society as a way to honor former Lowell principal, Dr. Murphy. In order to continue this fun and important tradition we need help! We are looking for businesses to sponsor the event, as well as items or services to be donated to the raffle. We are also in need of two additional co-chairs.

Welcome to our student teacher, Miss Fahmy! Read Miss Fahmy's introduction here:
I am very excited that I will be student teaching the fifth grade at Lowell Elementary School from January 19 to May 13, under the supervision of Mrs. McDonald. As a student teacher, I will be working closely with Mrs. McDonald to plan and prepare lessons for our fifth-grade students.
Prior to student teaching, I completed three preclinical experiences at three different elementary schools. I am currently working toward attaining a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education with an emphasis in Social Science from Benedictine University in Lisle, where I will graduate from in May 2016. I also currently serve as a part-time substitute teacher at the Islamic Foundation School (IFS) in Villa Park. Over the past summer, I worked at the Childtime of Villa Park as a lead teacher. I am also a coordinator of a preteen girls’ club called Girls Get Together (GGT) at the Islamic Center of Wheaton (ICW), which has also provided me with multiple volunteer opportunities over the past three years.
Along with teaching and working with kids, I enjoy reading and spending time with my family, fiancé and friends. I've always found working with children extremely rewarding and I am very excited to be given the opportunity to be part of an amazing community such as Lowell. I look forward to getting to know the school and learning from Mrs. McDonald's expertise
Sincerely,
Shaymaa Fahmy
