BEST COMMUNITIES IN MUSIC EDUCATION AWARD
MUSIC, BAND, AND MUSIC FOR YOUTH
At this meeting, the Board of Education recognized and celebrated the dedicated, creative, passionate, enthusiastic, and caring Music, Chorus, Band, and Music for Youth teachers. Because of their efforts, and the students' passion, the District was awarded Best Communities for Music Education national recognition by The National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) Foundation. The Foundation recognizes and celebrates school districts for their support and commitment to music education.

ECRA REPORT ON STUDENT GROWTH
Superintendent, Dr. Lori Bein, brought in ECRA's Senior Associate, Dr. Eleni Speron, to present the current student proficiency and student growth data to the Board.
ECRA Group is a premier research and analytics consulting firm that helps educational leaders improve student outcomes by adopting more evidence-based practices. They use in-district student achievement and growth data to provide a statistically-guided roadmap of where to continue the District's efforts, when to adjust programs and instructional strategies, and how to determine if programs are providing a positive return on our financial investments. ECRA's analytics also helps the District verify the correct students are being identified for intervention services and accelerated programming.
Administrators are now using this information to adjust or enhance District 25's programming so that the District can continue to work to close any achievement gaps where they exist.

Board Meeting Dates for 2022-2023
That the Board of Education approve the Board meeting dates for 2022-2023 as presented.
Superintendent, Dr. Lori Bein presented a revised Board of Education meeting date list for the 2022-2023 school year. The meetings will be held next school year on Tuesday nights at 7:00 pm, typically on every 2nd and 4th Tuesday of each month. If you wish to look ahead to view the Board Meetings for next year, you can visit the District's calendar on our website or visit the Board of Education page and select the "Calendar" tab.

PRESENTATION OF BOND SALE OPTIONS
Assistant Superintendent of Business/CSBO, Stacey Mallek, brought Elizabeth Hennessy from Raymond James to present the Board with some options for issuing bonds should the referendum pass. Further conversation and any decision on bonds would occur at a later date if the referendum passes and once the District has more detailed plans and costs.

That the Board of Education approve the NSSEO Budget Resolution for the 2022-23 School Year.
At the April 21, 2022 Board of Education meeting, Stacey Mallek, Assistant Superintendent of Business/CSBO, presented a proposed 2022-2023 NSSEO budget. The budget the Board voted on at this meeting had no changes from the proposed budget.

Music For Youth Contract
That the Board of Education approve the Proposed Agreement for Music Services with Music For Youth of Arlington Heights for the 2022-23 thru 2024-25 school years.
At the April 21, 2022 Board of Education meeting, Stacey Mallek, Assistant Superintendent of Business/CSBO, presented a proposed 2022-23 through 2024-25 Music for Youth contract. The contract the Board voted on at this meeting had no changes from the proposed contract.

10. STUDENT LEARNING

CURRICULUM EQUITY AUDIT
In August of 2022, the District commenced a partnership with Public Consulting Group LLC (PCG) to conduct an audit of the District's K-8 Literacy curriculum, K-8 Social Studies curriculum, and the Library Media Center collections to ensure they reflect the diversity of students and families in the District 25 community. The audit consisted of the following four phases:
- Phase 1: Data Collection and Analysis
- Phase 2: Curriculum Analysis
- Phase 3: Final Report and Implementation Roadmap
- Phase 4: Action Planning
Dr. Becky FitzPatrick, Assistant Superintendent of Student Learning, brought in Mary Ellen Hannon and Sydney Menzin from Public Consulting Group to present the findings in the audit.

ELEMENTARY MATH CURRICULUM ADOPTION
Dr. Becky FitzPatrick, Assistant Superintendent of Student Learning, Lisa Szydlowski, Math and Elementary Fine Arts & PE Coordinator, Lynda Mueller, Olive-Mary Stitt 2nd Grade Teacher, and Christina Dastice, Windsor 5th Grade Teacher presented the Board of Education with a recommendation to adopt Math in Focus 2020 as the new district elementary curriculum in the Fall of 2023.
In the fall of 2021, an elementary math committee was formed and embarked on a curriculum review. After researching, deciding to pilot, and successfully piloting Math in Focus 2020 the committee voted to bring this recommendation to the Board.

MIDDLE SCHOOL ENGLISH LANGUAGE ARTS CURRICULUM ADOPTION
Dr. Becky FitzPatrick, Assistant Superintendent of Student Learning, and Sharon Nelles, Literacy and SEL Coordinator, along with videos from Todd Slowinski, Thomas Middle School 8th Grade ELA/ALA Teacher, and Christine Fontanetta, South Middle School 6th Grade ELA Teacher, presented the Board of Education with a recommendation to fully implement the reading curriculum Units of Study with students and continued professional learning in reading and writing instruction for teachers beginning in the fall of 2022.

The Board hosts two public comment opportunities on their agenda: 1) at the beginning of the meeting, prior to any agenda items, 2) at the end of the meeting after the agenda items have been discussed/presented.
