Thanksgiving Break
PICTURE RETAKE DAY RESCHEDULED TO THIS THURSDAY, DECEMBER 1st!
Picture retake day was supposed to occur on November 22nd but had to be rescheduled. Our new date is Thursday, December 1st. We apologize for any inconvenience.
Nova Scotia Tree Going to Boston
On Monday, we some very special visitors! WB students went out to the front circle to see the Nova Scotia Tree to Boston. This is more than a tree. It's a symbol of gratitude and international goodwill. Annually, the people of Halifax, Nova Scotia donate a tree to be lit in Boston in thanks for their assistance after the 1917 Halifax Explosion. This tragedy brought out the best in people and sparked a long-lasting friendship between Canadians and New Englanders who immediately responded with doctors, supplies, and financial support. The Canadians have said, "you can never say thank you enough". This inspirational message came to light just as we headed into Thanksgiving break. It was a wonderful message to reinforce the power of community and caring. See the video below.
Snow Gear Needed
Weatherbee is in need of snow boots for students. If you have boots that you are no longer using, we'd be grateful to have the resource.
Please be sure to send your student with winter gear (coats, boots, snow pants, hats and mittens) each day. This ensure that students can fully participate in recess and PE activities comfortably. If you should need any resources, please let us know.

STUDENT SUCCESS
CHESS TEAM COMPETITION
The Weatherbee Bobcat Chess team competed in a South Portland Chess Tournament last Saturday, November 19th. Avery Zhang was our top scorer with 4 wins and no losses. He tied for 1st place. The computer tiebreaker system awarded Avery with second place. Ericka Snyder and Derrick Johnson went 3-1, Braddock Stansauk and Emi Snyder went 2-2, and Jordan Amon scored a win for the Bobcats. Our Bobcats captured 15 Scholastic Grand Prix points towards the standings. That's great scoring for our team and Avery walked away with a second place trophy! The standings haven't been posted yet this season, but we are most likely in the number one spot again. The reason is that we work hard and travel to every tournament in the Scholastic Grand Prix League. Go Bobcats!
