Greenback Night & Open House!
Time: 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm
Mark your calendars for Tuesday, September 14th from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm! If your child is in our Gifted and Talented Program, there will be a parent meeting from 5:30 pm - 6:00 pm in our library.
After you attend our PTA meeting, you will have the opportunity to visit each of your child's teachers and classes. So, make sure that you access your child's schedule through the Skyward portal so you know the order of classes and the room numbers for each of them.
Also during this night, you will have the opportunity to make a donation to our wonderful PTA. This annual fundraising event helps raise money that our PTA gives back to all of our students, teachers and staff in all sorts of ways, including school supplies, teacher resources for instruction, funds to host social events like our 6th Grade Skating party, our 7th grade social night, and our 8th Grade End-of-Year Social. We encourage you and your family to contribute what you can to continue helping our PTA partner in advocating and helping educate our children!
See the flyers below for more information. We look forward to seeing you on Tuesday! Go Big Blue and Go Yearlings!

In Memory of 911
The bell had rung and my first period class of students and I were glued to watching the news unfolding live on tv. A few minutes into our class, we watched the second plane crash into the second tower. As the news anchors started saying this was a terrorist attack, I remember my students starting asking me what that meant, and why anyone would try to attack us. We continued watching the news and the chaos unfolding and our fears and questions started to rise. And then we all watched the first tower as it came crashing to the ground and suddenly disappeared. Then the second tower did the same thing and we starred at nothing but the huge plumes of dust from the fallen towers. In shock, in fear, in disbelief, and in tremendous sadness, we went through the rest of the school day just going through the motions like we were in a fog. I will never forget that day.
The events of 911 have changed our world and have affected all of us in many ways. My brother-in-law deployed to Afghanistan within months of the attack. Perhaps you, or your son or daughter, family member, or friend did the same. Perhaps you had a loved one who perished in the attack that day, or know someone who served in the military and gave his/her utlimate sacrifice to defend our freedoms.
Tomorrow marks the 20th anniversary of 911. In memory of this day, let us take some time to remember those 2,977 people who perished in these attacks. Let us remember all of the first repsonders, fire, police, EMS, doctors and nurses who came to our rescue. Let us remember all of the soldiers and military men and women who responded to these attacks to defend our freedoms and liberties. Let that day help us hope for a better tomorrow and for a brighter future for ourselves and our children.
