UOP BLOCK Conference - October 4, 2019
On Friday, October 4th, our 7th and 8th grade students participating in the "Chase your dreams" mentoring program will attend the UOP BLOCK Conference. BLOCK stands for "Building Leaders and Overcoming Challenges with Knowledge." The conference is free for our students. Parents, please ask your 7/8th grader about their permission slip. Ms. Barcenas will attend with the students. The students will return by 3pm.
Click here for more information about the BLOCK Conference.
School Uniform
School uniform policy is in full effect. Please be sure to send your child in a complete school uniform everyday including plain black or white shoes. ONLY the school sweatshirt can be worn to school but students need to have a red vest/sweater for mass (definitely no sweatshirts at mass). Jackets need to be free from logos.
Red vests/sweaters can be purchased from Dennis Uniform at www.dennisuniform.com.
Sweatshirt/T-shirt Order Form - Place your orders ASAP!
Ms. Anna Hernandez is graciously coordinating another order of spiritwear for our students/families/staff. T-shirts can be worn on Thursdays only. If you are interested in purchasing a t-shirt or a sweatshirt, please complete the order form and drop it off with your money to the office by Friday, October 4. One order form per family.
St. George Student Council - ELECTIONS
Last week, class representatives were elected for Student Council. Next week, interested students in grades 6-8 will give a one-minute election speech to grades 2-8 on Wednesday, October 2nd. Voting will take place in classrooms that same day and the winners will be announced after school. Our first Student Council meeting will be on Thursday, October 3 during both lunches. Once we get ourselves organized, we will send out an activity update.
Flu Shot Clinic at St. Linus
St. Linus is having a Flu Shot Clinic on October 6, 2019 from 9-3pm. Please go to Diego Hall. Call the St. Linus rectory for more information: (209) 465-1430.
Lice Check - Wednesday, October 9
All children will be checked for lice on Wednesday, October 9 (or another day if they are absent). Please help us by leaving their hair down and not putting any styling products in their hair on Wednesday, October 9. You will be notified if your child may have lice.
Fall Fest on October 31st!
Parents, please join us for Fall Fest. We will have games, arts and crafts, activities, and food! We need a few people to buy/pick up some pizzas. Let us know if you might be available.
Students may change into a costume at lunch recess. Nothing bloody or scary. No masks or toy weapons allowed. Students must wear school appropriate shoes even with their costume. Label EVERYTHING! Thanks!
BoxTops for Education!!!
Please collect your box tops. Each one is worth 10cents. You can turn them in to a teacher or to the office.
Counseling Services coming to St. George School
I am so excited to announce that we will have three counselors/therapists available to our students and families. Through leadership from Catholic Charities and a grant from Sutter Health, three therapists will be assigned to our school and can meet with students regularly (with parent permission). The counselors are also able to provide counseling for families or groups. The counselors are coming to give a presentation and give out the counseling permission slips. We need a completed permission slip for EVERY child. Parents have the option to decline or accept counseling for their child.
Art Classes for St. George Students at St. Mary's High School
The art teacher at St. Mary's is running an art program just for our students in grades 2-8. Please see the form in your child's backpack or pick one up from the office. The class meets once a week on Thursdays from 3:30-5pm at St. Mary's High School (Room 12 in B-hall). The cost is $50 per child for each month. Classes begin in October.
This is not a school sponsored event. Please arrange for your own transportation, supervision, and payment schedule.
