WRMS Weekly Update
February 28, 2020
Health Advisory
As you are already aware, the recent Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak is being monitored at the global, national, state, and local levels. We are working with all agencies to better understand the nature of the situation in order to determine what we can do to protect our school community.
Our nursing staff is maintaining close surveillance of all illnesses in our schools and our custodians have been regularly cleaning desks, door handles, lockers and surfaces that might be a source of contamination. We have also received confirmation from the manufacturer of our disinfectant products that they are effective in killing the Coronavirus.
- The best way to prevent infection is frequent hand washing and covering the mouth when sneezing or coughing.
- Sick students/staff members with a fever should not attend school until they are free from fever without medication for at least 24 hours.
- Avoid close contact with those who are sick.
- Please inform your school nurse if any student/staff member is traveling abroad and/or their family members returning from out of the country. The nursing staff will monitor these cases and contact families if necessary.

If you have any concerns or questions, feel free to reach out to your building nurse or principal. Thank you for your cooperation and assistance in maintaining the health of everyone in our District.
Attendance Reminders
Thank you for emailing teachers and the nurse regarding absences. Please also include Mrs. McDonough in your communication (sharon.mcdonough@wwrsd.org). She enters attendance into Genesis and this could save you an additional phone call.
Pennies for Patients
Helping Hands Club will be participating "Pennies for Patients" next week to support the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. The fundraiser is designed to support children and families diagnosed with blood cancer. A spokesperson from the L&LS gave a short presentation during lunches today to tell students more about their mission and to encourage them to join the Hero Squad. Visit the L&LS website for more information.
