Falcon Online Learning Resources
March 18, 2020
We miss you! Our teachers have been working on some packets for you and are updating their websites. Please make sure you check Remind, your school email, and stay connected!
The NHCS Instructional Services Team has created lessons you will find linked below. These will need to be either printed at home or picked up from any school location meal service locations by 11 am on Wednesday, March 18.
As Students Work From Home, Please Remember:
Keep it simple
Don’t try to do every activity, everyday, all day.
Use outside, music, dancing, stretching, and physical activity as breaks.
Read together. Read alone quietly. Read outside. Read everywhere.
Students can check out 2 e-books using their NHCS lunch number from the NHCPL.
Amazon’s Audible is offering students free access to ebooks for as long as schools are closed. Students will be able to instantly stream stories in 6 languages. They can stream the collection to phone, tablet, laptop, or desktop.
Your family may wish to create a schedule similar to the one below:
How to talk to teens about the new coronavirus from Harvard Health Blog
How to Manage Your Kid’s Anxiety Over Coronavirus from New Jersey Family
Charter to Offer Free Access to Spectrum Broadband and Wi-Fi For 60 Days For New K-12 and College Student Households and More
Information on the Coronavirus for NC can be found by accessing the link. NC State Public Health has established a phone number for public novel coronavirus questions: 1-866-462-3821. This is intended for non-emergency general questions from the public and is encouraged to be shared and publicized.

Health and Human Services
The county’s Health and Human Services is open, and residents are asked to call ahead at 910-798-3500 to determine if services can be conducted over the phone prior to coming to the building. Currently applications and assessments for emergency assistance for heating and cooling costs and childcare can be conducted by phone. C. Residents can apply for Medicaid and Food and Nutrition Services online at Epass.NC.gov, or call 910-798-3500 to have an application mailed to them.
Visitors to the Health and Human Services building are being screened for fever and respiratory symptoms by a public health nurse before entry, and waiting areas promote social distancing, if one-on-one services are needed.
