SHARK SHOUTOUTS
I am sending a big Shark Shout Out to the members of SANDSCRIPT who wrote amazing poems and stories for the magazine and several writing contests this crazy year. They also photographed, drew, and painted wonderful art pieces. Look for some great bake sales this summer at our local grocery stores as we raise funds for another writing trip! -Ms. Forte-Doyle
I would also like to give a Shark Shout Out to my fabulous Distance Learning Seminar colleagues: George Sowpel, Matt Brown, and Rich Houston. I learned a lot from them about politics, government, history, and Google technology!! They were true colleagues and were my League of Extraordinary Gentlemen! Love you guys! -Ms. Forte-Doyle
Finally, but most importantly, I want to wholeheartedly thank Jen Police, David Alexander, and the Monomoy School District, for giving me the opportunity to remain safely at home by creating the Distance Learning Seminar and trusting the Extraordinary Gentlemen and me to compose a curriculum that worked hard to give students a voice while helping them understand the complex and chaotic world around them. For so many reasons, I am proud to be a Monomoy Shark! -Ms. Forte-Doyle
- Kudos to Beth Herbst and her team of Raffle Elves for their uplifting basket raffles this year! It brought humor, fun, camaraderie, and notched up the excitement for the entire staff, at the hands of very generous, creative, and motivated people, whose sole goal was to; ENJOY! THANK YOU ALL! -Mrs. Janet Ferro
- Huge Shark Shout Out to Erin Hofmann, Melinda Jones, and John Dickson: How eloquently each of you spoke at the end-of-year Staff Celebration! Your admiration and awareness of the retirees' histories, personalities, and lives spoke volumes and gave, to those who don't know them as well or as long, a glimpse into the retirees' amazing careers! I applaud you for taking the time and investing the effort that went into those speeches, and thank you sincerely for sharing! And lastly, please allow me to share this momentary spotlight, as I shine it on George Sowpel, who always breathes a sense of sentimentality and sparkle into our online or in-person gatherings. -Mrs. Janet Ferro
To Zack Gill for holding the National Honor Society students to a high standard, requiring authentic and valuable community service experiences that help instill a sense of civic duty and pride. -Ms. Mary Ellen Janeiro
- On behalf of all the Ladies from the Harwich Children's Fund, we would like to thank all of the teachers, staff, and administrators for supporting our efforts throughout the year. All of the money raised goes directly to helping the children within the Monomoy Regional School District. Enjoy a wonderful summer and a must needed rest. Thank you again. -Harwich Children's Fund
- A HUGE shoutout to everyone who helped out with 7th Grade Step Up Day. Particularly big thanks to Joy Jordan and Amanda Kosloski, whose help was truly invaluable. To all of my student leaders - thank you for leading groups and keeping students engaged with all that is Monomoy. This includes:

What the world needs now...is you!
AFS Intercultural Programs/USA is looking for host families for two students. These students will be arriving in late summer and ready for school to start in the fall. Welcoming a student is a wonderful way to help change the world without leaving your home community.
All families need to host is room in their homes and room in their hearts. The students hope to become part of your family, the high school and the local community. Each student and family will have local support from AFS staff and trained local volunteers.
Those interested in becoming a host family or seeking more information about the experience are encouraged to contact Anne D’Urso, a long time volunteer and experienced host parent.

Creative Outlets believes that every teen can be creative and artistic. All teens need is to find what works for them! We provide teens with many different experiences with art so they can find a medium and process they will connect to. Creative Outlets encourages teens to dive into art because in doing so, they develop confidence, sensitivity to people and the world around them, and look at life from different perspectives.

Spring 2021 Weekly Summaries
Girls Tennis by Olivia Prisco
Girls tennis has been playing extremely well all season, winning 9 out of our 11 matches thus far. We have one final match, against St. East, tomorrow June 11th, and are feeling very strong. The group has played with great effort and skill this entire season, and our team has truly become a family. We are excited to have made it to the tournaments this year, and with a strong team, both mentally and physically, we are ready to accomplish great things.
Boys Lacrosse
This week we wrapped up our regular season for boys lacrosse. The ending was not what we were hoping for but I am proud to say that we all fought hard in each and every game and played together as a team. With many new players stepping into roles that they have not experienced before including our goalie Josh Lovely and our entire midfield lineup. They have done an amazing job. It is easy to focus on the countless injuries this year and the losses that we have been through. However, one thing that goes unnoticed from the outside is the brotherhood and bond that our team has. We always have each other's back whether it is on the field or off the field as well. It seems we are always there for each other. As the season winds down we want to remember the family we have and the love we have for one another because through the hardships of this season, we stuck together. -Junior, Jake Burnie, Midfielder, and Captain
Track and Field by Amy Hinesley
Track & Field did not win any meets this year and had a lot of fun doing it! Everyone placed in their various events due to lots of hard work. League All-Stars were Rhiannon Vos and Ryder Robbins! The league Sportsmanship Award went to Amy Hinesley! Shoutout to the seniors: Ryder Robbins, Justus Canto, Nikki Awalt, Aidan Melton, Amy Hinesley, Josie Ganshaw, Ryan Schepman, and Trey Cox. Also, special thanks to our amazing coaches: Mr. Bates, Mrs. Hemeon, and Ms. Robbins!!!!
