National FFA Week

Next week is National FFA Week, embedded is a link to learn more about the purpose of this week! The National FFA Organization is the largest youth organization in the United States with over 875,000 FFA members nationwide. We take this time to celebrate the 94 years that this organization has impacted lives, creating leaders, speakers, and job seekers. Our own chapter is only 1 of 87 chapters in the state of Arizona, with a membership of 265 students creating an economic impact of $24,000 through Supervised Agricultural Experiences (Work Based Learning), and nearly 4,000 documented hours since August. We are proud of the progress of our members and pleased to celebrate our program, our chapter and our organization.

BSU at the Capital!

CVHS BSU students attended the African American Legislative Youth Day Conference, on February 10th, at the State Capitol. The students participated in sessions involving Civic Engagement, Mental Health Awareness, Fentanyl Awareness, and an HBCU Panel Discussion. This was the first time the event was held in-person, since 2020.

Jaguar Success: Academic Support

Every Monday, Thursday, and Friday from 11:00 to 11:40, students attend Jaguar Success.

This is an opportunity for students to receive support in areas of need, retake tests, attend academic clubs, or attend study hall. Teachers also have the opportunity to pull students who need additional support.

If students are not pulled, they can use the link below to sign up for sessions of their choice:

Math Support through ALEKS

Every student has access to individualized

math support through ALEKS!

ALEKS is an artificially intelligent learning and assessment platform that is offered to all AFHSD math students. After quickly and accurately determining each student's precise knowledge of mathematics, ALEKS helps the student work on the topics they are ready to learn and helps them progress by individualizing content.

If your child does not have access to ALEKS, please have them work with their teacher to set up an account. Many teachers use ALEKS to assign content aligned to their course, but ALEKS can also be used to meet the students where they’re at and help push them to where they need to be.
