What is Extreme Poverty?

Poverty is lack of money and or material recourse. About 1.6 billion people still live in extreme poverty, some making at least $1.25 a day. 85% of that live in rural areas.

Hunger Rises!

In 1974, there was about 500 million hungry people in the world. The number of hungry people rised up to 830 million in 1996. Also in 1996, 12% of the U.S. population was hungry. In the year of 2000, Millennium Summit leaders pledged to reduce extreme poverty. By 2008, 12% of the U.S. population was still hungry.
