Poverty Plays in Peoria
...but the Church can make a difference!
Poverty Conference. Friday, November 8th. 8:30-11:30 am.
Our friends at South Side Mission, Dream Center Peoria and Peoria Rescue Ministries are teaming up to host the 2019 Poverty in Peoria Conference. This free event will be held in the Michel Student Center at Bradley University.
More than 23,000 of Peoria's 111,000 residents live below the poverty line. (That's 20.9%, compared to the national average of 13.4%.)
The Poverty Conference will help attendees learn what poverty is, and how to address more than just symptoms. Dr. Brian Fikkert, is the nationally renowned author of "When Helping Hurts" and "Becoming Whole." He will be speaking on an innovative definition of poverty, how we see our community, and how to rethink our approach to poverty alleviation and see lives and our communities flourish.
Contact the church office (or register on your own) if you would like to attend.
