Supporting Early Learners during School Closure

We wanted to let you know that you are all on our mind during these uncertain times, knowing that you are thinking about how to continue learning for your young students in a very different, challenging manner. Our ESC staff has been planning and working to provide resources for teachers and families. You can access those resources here.

As always we are available to support your individual and campus early childhood needs needs. We can schedule phone calls and Zoom meetings to provide technical assistance to support your needs. We encourage you to please contact us via the email or phone numbers below.

In an effort to provide you with resources to plan forward for implementing instruction and family support at home, we have curated various resources for you to use as an information and planning tool. The inclusion of these resources is not an endorsement of the resource. Users should be cognizant of usage rights before reproduction.

In addition to instructional resources, we will also use this newsletter to keep you informed of any TEA updates related to early childhood during school closure. Please do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions.

We hope you will find this useful!

CIRCLE Family Activity Collection

CLI Engage features many resources to support schools and teachers in maintaining relationships with families and offering supports for learning at home.

They've compiled a set of tools and tips on CLI Engage for Teachers and Families. We hope they will be helpful as you support children and families during this unprecedented period, following public health guidance for social distancing to control the spread of COVID-19.

CLI recommends that you connect with families and offer supportive, appropriate, engaging, and fun activities! The CIRCLE Activity Collection for Families provides you with a full set of lessons for children (birth through age 5) at home that you can align with your current instructional goals. It is designed to offer you multiple ways to share activities that children can do at home with their families to continue their learning and developmental progress. The collection is publicly accessible (no login required!) and is optimized for mobile viewing and searching.

Click here for access to the website. (No login required.)

As a teacher, you might also plan to use this resource to plan activities for your families. This document shows the alignment of each activity to the Texas Prekindergarten Guidelines.

These activities will provide an enjoyable hands-on learning experience for children and their families. Take delight in this learning time together!
