Happy New Year!

As we return to school this week, the excitement of the Christmas break is still fresh in the air with students sharing their many stories of presents and travels. Students and teachers are refreshed and ready to continue on their educational journey as we proceed through the winter months. It is good to see some snow on the ground as the students have been yearning for it for weeks to play in during recesses.

January is a busy month at CCA as we introduce School Choice, a new 3K preschool format, MAP testing for grades K-2, hosting the annual boys and girls basketball tournaments, and celebrating Catholic Schools Week.

The CCA All-School Spelling Bee will be held tomorrow morning at 8:30 am in the gym. Parents of students competing were notified before Christmas break. Good luck to all the participants who were chosen through grade level competition!

The Board of Directors of the Wisconsin Religious and Independent Schools Accreditation (WRISA) proudly announced on December 26, 2018 the accreditation of Christ Child Academy. The press release states: “We applaud the accomplishments of Christ Child Academy community and its commitment to ongoing school improvement and high standards of excellence,” remarked Beatrice Weiland, WRISA’s executive director.

We are excited to announce that the 3K preschool program will be held in the Extended Day facility next year with three day and five day per week options. The hours will be 8:10-11:15 am. Tuition rates for this program will become available during Catholic Schools Week, which kicks off our 2019-2020 registration. More information to follow. This change will help meet our 4K enrollment limit of 20 students.

One of the most exciting times of the year is when we celebrate Catholic Schools Week and all we are blessed to be able to offer to students and families. During the week of January 26th through February 1st, Christ Child Academy will have several fun and exciting activities which promote service, spiritual development, and community. The schedule of daily weekend and daily events will be coming soon. The All County Catholic Schools Mass will be Tuesday, January 29th at 9:30 am at Holy Name of Jesus Church and hosted by St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic School. All are welcome to come and celebrate this wonderful Mass with all the students.

Students in grades K-2 will participate in MAP testing January 14-17. MAP stands for Measurement of Academic Progress and accesses students in Math and Reading. Results of these tests will shared in the following weeks.

Thank you to everyone who has been collecting and donating items for our STEAM projects! At this time we are out of storage so we will not be accepting items. We will, however, let you know when we need more.

Through feedback from middle school students, we will be offering a nutritious salad/fruit bar meal beginning January 2nd. Students in grades 5-8 may choose to select the One-Trip Salad Bar option for $1.50. The salad bar has been growing and will include several salad toppings along with fruit and other assorted offerings. This option does not include a drink. Please see the pictures below for a sample of the One-Trip Salad Bar.

Please note there will not be deviled eggs on the salad bar, instead there will be hard-boiled eggs.

With the full support of the Christ Child Academy Governance Board and Finance Committee, the Tri-Parish Pastoral Council and all three parishes finance councils, Christ Child Academy is excited to announce that we intend to participate in the statewide Wisconsin Parental Choice Program (WPCP) for the 2019-2020 school year. The WPCP allows students throughout the State of Wisconsin to attend private and religious schools tuition-free through a voucher provided by the state. Below is the full School Choice announcement. Brenda Binversie has been hired as our new School Choice Coordinator and will assist the application process.

The next Bingo is on Sunday, January 20th – Grades 3K, 4K, and Kindergarten are responsible for volunteering. Please take a look at the sign up ASAP and find a time slot to work. There are also opportunities to donate food, cash or gift cards. Many hands make for light work. Thank you for your support!

Students are to wear their CCA polo shirts with the logo along with dress or Khaki pants or a skirt for the girls for all Mass days and on all field trips, unless otherwise denoted. Polo shirts are to be tucked in for both boys and girls for Mass. Any additional items such as sweaters or vests must have the CCA logo and be worn over the polo shirt. These additional items are available on the Land's End website. Yoga pants are not to be worn to Mass except under a skirt and in a solid color. Students volunteering at the St. Peter Claver Food Pantry are to wear Mass attire as this is considered an off-site field trip.

The Knights of Columbus Free Throw Championship for boys and girls ages 9 - 14 will be held on Sunday, January 6th at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton School. Registration begins on site at 1:00 pm and the shooting competition will begin at 1:30 pm. Pleas see the below flyer for more details.

The 2018 Annual Fund Appeal for Christ Child Academy is in full swing. The mailings have gone out in November and we are already receiving many donation envelopes back. Our goal for this year is $75,000. Monies raised help enrich programs, technology, academics, arts, and help us to keep tuition reasonably affordable.

This year, we have added a new feature for your convenience. We have partnered with GoFundMe to accept online donations for our Annual Fund Appeal.

If parents or grandparents plan to participate in field trips, work in the lunchroom, coach, or help out at school, you must attend a Safeguarding All God’s Family training through the Archdiocese of Milwaukee. You must register on-line at www.archmil.org and indicate you are associated with Christ Child Academy. If you have not previously been trained, now is a great time to attend a session.

CCA can earn money from clipping Box Tops found on various products. When you buy items, simply clip the Box Top and bring it to CCA. The Box Tops are submitted, and our school receives a check which is used towards our activity fund. It’s another easy way for you to help the school by purchasing the products you already use! Enlist your family, friends and neighbors to collect the Box Tops, too.

CCA will receive 5¢ (five cents) for each cap or milk bag top they redeem from Nature’s Touch® products. The program will only accept specially marked caps and bag tops that feature the Milk Moola symbol. Thank you to Paula Hilbert, who has been overseeing this program for many years!

Our Scrip store is available Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2:45-3:10 in the Conference Room of the former IC parish offices (next to Mrs. Lampe's office). A seven-week Christian parenting class focused on using positive reinforcement to encourage compliance and respectful behavior will begin Wednesday, January 16, 2019. The class will be held at Trinity Lutheran Ministry Center and will be held for seven consecutive Wednesdays from 6:30-8:30 pm. The class will focus on learning and practicing parenting skills such as rewards and privileges, ignoring, time-out, removal of privileges, communication, household chores, allowances, building self-esteem and responsibility, compliance and much more! The purpose of the Student Referral Program is to reward current Christ Child Academy families for increasing and sustaining enrollment at Christ Child Academy.
