The Adventure of Learning - September 17, 2019
Fall is in the Air!
We hope this year is off to a great start for your family and that you have already embarked on the Adventure of Learning with your children!
Inspire is honored that you have invited us to partner with you on your homeschool journey. We hope you enjoy this issue of the Central Scoop!
Yes, Keizo is a Soccer enthusiast and a Boy Scout. He plays midfield-center competitively and was chosen to be an assistant coach for his U8 soccer team. He shares his love of the game by creating soccer camps for neighborhood kids and participates in street soccer events. Keizo can juggle a soccer ball with his feet more than 50 times! In the Boy Scouts, he is a Patrol Leader, organized a zipline camping trip, volunteers with his troop, and earns advanced badges.
Keizo is an exemplary Yosemite Valley 9th grader!
When you have a question... your HST can help you find the answer!
I just wanted to remind you to please reach out to your HST with any questions you have. The Fresno Office is buzzing with new enrollment!! We want to make sure we are not interrupting their progress with phone calls & emails. Our office staff is more than happy to help with anything but remember to please reach out to your HST. If your HST doesn't know the answer, he/she can find out for you! We are here to serve you!
Come find us at our Community Connections Team events! We are having SO much FUN!
Please join us for all the fun while seeing friends, exploring new places, learning new ideas & adventuring together with our Inspire community. Please register for all events, free or paid, using Inspiration Station.
If you have any questions or great ideas, please email Michelene Fitzgerald at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Community Connections Website
Hot off the press! We have launched our Community Connections Parent Website.
It lists all the regions throughout CA so teachers who have families in other regions can either send specific newsletters for CC events or simply send the link to the website and families can select the region they are interested in. This is for everyone, not just for teachers. Thank you for your support!
UPDATE Library Curriculum Check Outs: If you are checking out a curriculum from the Lending Library, you now can have that item until June 2020. All other items (readers, puzzles, and games) still have the maximum six month check out period.
Thank you to all who participated in our Summer Reading Bingo. Our three lucky winners are:
Calla Franklin, Gideon Estes, and Waverly Douglas!
We look forward to having future contests with everyone.
What if your Student is falling behind in their courses?
- Does the student have enough quiet, uninterrupted time, every school day, in which to complete studies?
1 hour per school day, per academic course
Electives require 3-4 hours per week
Does the student have a designated place to study?
Are you checking on progress daily? If you do not know how to check the progress of your student's curriculum, ask your HST.
Is the curriculum or platform the right choice for this student?
If a change is needed, the sooner the better, and must be within the first 6 weeks of the semester. High School students can add or drop a class until October 18th. After that, they must stay in all courses and complete the assignments.
Does the student need additional support for a subject?
Educational funds should be spent on core academic support first. Tutors, HQT office hours, and the OSP option of TutorMe is for grades 3-12 are great resources for additional academic support.
In Sickness and In Health: An Exploration of Illness and Wellness
Students explore 7 subject areas as well as practice in Essay, Interview, and Speech skills.
Students are eligible to compete in the Regional Competition to be held at the end of the semester (Late January or early February). The top-performing team from Inspire will go on to the state competition in Sacramento to represent Inspire in March.
Please see the attached flyer to share with families.
To sign up, let your HST know you'd like to join!

Online Subscription Package Updates
Thank you for your remarkable patience while we worked through the implementation challenges with our Online Subscription Package (OSP) this year. We are truly sorry delay of several subscriptions as well as the frustrations those delays have caused you and your students.
The good news is that all of the subscriptions are working; hooray! For those who requested TutorMe, the subscription will be available on Monday, 9/16. We will send an email with login instructions (please be sure to check your spam folder). Unfortunately, some of our families are still experiencing difficulties accessing their subscriptions or need a little assistance in understanding how Clever works.
We're here to help!
Although we are working diligently to answer the backlog of thousands of emails, a video explanation or demonstration is oftentimes far more helpful. Therefore, we are hosting office hours for both teachers and families to provide live support and help answer questions, concerns, troubleshoot, and much more!
