September 24, 2022

October 22, 2022

Once a student registers, he/she doesn't need to register again this year, unless you only attended one session in the fall. Then, please register again for the spring.

GOHS students attended the AP Readiness program at UCR in order to receive supplemental, supportive instruction in their respective AP/IB courses. The data shows that attending more than 3 AP Readiness sessions increased the chances of passing a class by 20%, while attending 6 or more raises the student more than 30%.

Also, in 2019 the county conducted a survey of the 756 students who attended the first session asking them to what degree:

"AP Readiness will help me in my AP class and on the exam"

92% agreed very strongly or strongly with this statement

"Today's session was beneficial to my learning"

94% agreed very strongly or strongly with this statement

The intent of the workshops is to provide instructional support to AP and IB students in the following courses:

  • AP Biology
  • AP Calculus AB
  • AP Chemistry
  • AP Computer Science Principles
  • AP English Language
  • AP English Literature
  • AP Human GeographyAP Physics
  • AP Spanish Language (NEW)
  • AP Statistics
  • AP US History
  • AP World History

The workshops run one Saturday each month leading up to the AP exams. They are all different, and they are organized to match the curricular development in each subject. The format has also been adjusted for online learning to help engage student and give them more breaks. The fall semester is virtual per UCR maximum meeting guidelines. A student may go to just one, a few, or all eight workshops.

The process is:

Student must register for workshop. Here is the link. If you already registered and have been attending, you don't need to reregister. However, if you only attended one session in the fall, please reregister in the spring.

AP Readiness will then communicate with the student by email so that they know the agenda, the content, etc.

To avoid any late fees, payment for AP exams should be completed by October 2nd and for IB exams by October 8th. If you need information for the district free and reduced lunch program, please reference the district's website.

For IB, seniors will sit the exam for all IB courses they are enrolled in. Junior students should check with their teacher to ensure whether or not they are in a testing year. IB students only pay in the year they complete the sit down exam. For AP, students are strongly encouraged to take the exam by our school and by colleges, but it is optional.
