A piglet weighs about 1.5 kilograms when it is born and doubles its weight to 3 kilograms in a week. The piglet continues to nurse from its mother for three months. After three months the Sow starts to wean her piglets. Piglets stay with their mothers for their entire lives unless taken away, even after they have been weaned. Pigs are very clean animals. A piglet only a few hours old will leave the nest to relieve themselves.
