Week In a Peek

Ms. Cindy, Ms. Cathy, Ms. Heather and Ms. Amanda

Last week

We wrapped up our Feeling Buddy introductions this week. The children have now met four Feeling Buddies- Happy, Sad, Angry, and Scared. We discussed how your face looks when you feel those feelings, and we have learned many calm down strategies. We now know how to be a S.T.A.R and "drain" our our anger. We use the safe place when we are feeling a big feeling. We also practiced using big voices to tell others what we need to be safe. This includes telling friends, "Stop! I don't like when you do that." if they are bothering us instead of using our hands.

Next Week

Every day in our class we do what is called a "Wish Well" ritual. We "wish well" the students who are absent and we also ask if any children have any concerns that they would like to wish well. An example would be if they aren't feeling well, if they are sad that day, or if they have a sick friend/family member and so on. This week we really noticed a trend in our room. Every day the children were wanting to wish well their pets!

We decided that next week we would start studying pets. This led to a discussion of what we already know about pets and what we wanted to know about pets. We decided that snakes, lizards, cats, dogs, and rabbits can all be pets. One student asked if an elephant could be a pet. We will be investigating how to take care of pets and reading lots of books about pets! If you would like to send in pictures of your family pets, please do so! You can email them or send in pictures. Thanks for your help!
