Rock Cycles
This is a poster explaining the cycle of the rocks.
The "Rocks" Classifications.
igneous rocks have gas bubbles in them.
Metamorphic:
Metamorphic rocks are usually quite hard and have crystals in them.
Sedimentary:
Sedimentary rocks have lines through them of different colours and usually quite smooth.
Metamorphic Rocks (Granite)
Metamorphic rocks are rocks that have "morphed" into another type of rock. these rocks were once sedimentary or igneous rocks. The rocks change because they are under heaps of pressure and heat.
Igneous Rocks (Scoria)
Igneous rocks were once metamorphic or sedimentary rocks. they change the same way other rocks change by heat and pressure.
Sedimentary (Hematite)
These rocks are created just like the other rocks, Metamorphic and Igneous by heat and pressure.
About the mind Map
CYCLE DIAGRAM
This diagram shows all the process a rock goes through to change from one to another. When the rocks go through heat and pressure then cooling and they morph into different rocks.
FACTS on Rocks and Minerals on our Earth.
- The diamond is the hardest natural substance found on earth.
Rocks and stones are naturally occurring solids made up of minerals.
The Earth's crust is made up of rock.
Rocks have been used by humans for millions of years, from early tools and weapons through to various construction materials.
There are three different types of rocks based on the way they form, igneous, sedimentary and metamorphic.
When magma cools and solidifies it forms igneous rock.
Examples of igneous rocks include granite, basalt, gabbro, obsidian and pumice.
Sediment deposited over time, often as layers at the bottom of lakes and oceans, forms sedimentary rocks.
Examples of sedimentary rocks include sandstone, mudstone, flint, greywacke and chalk.
Extreme pressure and heat over time forms metamorphic rocks.
Examples of metamorphic rocks include marble, quartzite, schist, granulite and slate.
The metamorphic rock marble is formed from the sedimentary rock limestone.
The metamorphic rock granulite is formed from the igneous rock basalt
