Monk Fryston Weekly News 22.10.21
The target for w/c 1st November is 'Be Prepared'
Well-earned break.
We know that all our children have worked incredibly hard since September and they are ready for a well-earned break. Please do give them a chance to rest and recuperate next week, although we would encourage them to keep reading regularly and practise their basic skills so that they are well-equipped for the next half term.
Tri-Golf Competition
Well done to the team of Year 6 girls who participated in an area Tri Golf competition in York yesterday. They were an amazing team and won the competition! Congratulations to all of them – they really were superb.
PTA meeting 1.11.21
There is a PTA meeting on Monday 1st November in the Crown at 7.30pm to discuss Christmas events. Everyone is welcome.
Y4 & Y6 New Appointments
Following a recent recruitment process, governors are delighted to have appointed Miss Lillywhite as the teacher of our Year 4 class. She will move from Year 6 immediately after half term. Mrs Fowler has been appointed to teach in Year 6.
Rising Covid Cases
You will have seen that cases of Coronavirus are increasing locally and nationally. We have managed this well since September and the impact upon our school has not been as high as others. It is important that we continue to manage this next half term, and we can only do this together. If you are going away during the holiday please do keep safe, and if anyone in your family shows recognised symptoms of Coronavirus please take a PCR test to help identify if they are infectious. All staff continue to test at home twice each week and we would also encourage families to conduct lateral flow tests so that asymptomatic cases can be identified quickly.
Darker Nights.
The clocks will have changed when we return in November and the darker nights will be upon us. Please do make sure that your child is well equipped for travel to and from school by having warm, bright or reflective clothing that can be seen easily by other road users.
Harvest Service at St Wilfrid's Church 24.10.21
There will be harvest service at St Wilfrid's at 10am Sunday 24th October followed by a harvest lunch. This is £5 per person, if you are able to prebook the lunch please contact Peter Roberts.
Change to the menu w/c 1st November 2021
There is a change to the menu w/c 1st November. Wednesday is now fishfingers, chips, carrots & peas or (v) cheesy pastry or jacket potato with baked beans or cheese or a cheese sandwich. Friday is the bonfire lunch which you will already have pre-ordered if your child wanted one. Thank you.
Poppy Appeal
We will be selling poppies and other merchandise after half term, see photo below for suggested donations. If children want to purchase anything please send your donation in a sealed envelope with their name and year group on the front.
Community Library (aka 'What The Dickens!') at Monk Fryston Community Centre.
Parent Volunteers
We would like to welcome parent readers after half term. If you would like to volunteer, please notify the office and ensure that a new DBS has been applied for.

This is our new menu for September - children now have a vegetarian option to choose from as well as the main meal, a jacket potato or a sandwich.
