Student Health Screener
Keeping our schools open for face-to-face learning will require everyone's help in mitigating the spread of the virus. Students/families are asked to self-screen each day before school, using the Chippewa Valley Student Self-Screening Questions found below. Staff and students must stay home if feeling ill or have symptoms that are COVID-19 related.
If your child will be absent, you must call our attendance line at 586.723.6899. This line is open 24/7 so please call as soon as you know your child will not be in school but always prior to the start of the school day on which they will be absent. When leaving a message, please state student's name grade, teacher and reason for absence. If your child is ill, you must give the symptoms your child is experiencing and a diagnosis, if confirmed by a physician.

Shawnee Hot Lunch Order Form
This year, parents will continue to order hot lunch in advance for their children using our monthly Shawnee Lunch Forms. Therefore, teachers no longer take lunch count in class. The links below will lead you to a form so you can make lunch choices for your student. Please click on the month you would like to order for below. Simply enter your child’s name, and select their grade and teacher. Then, choose the dates and lunch options your child would like to order.
The link is live now! You may order and make changes anytime between now and 8:00 AM on the day before you are requesting lunch. After that, you will not be able to order for the next day as our totals will be submitted.
Please be sure to check back often as menu changes can occur. Click here for further information sent from the district regarding lunch supply challenges that are impacting our menus.
Students can order Lunch Plus / Doubles for lunch. Hot lunch still remains free but the cost of doubles will be $1.50. Students will need to preorder doubles just as they do for hot lunch. Lunch Plus / Doubles will be an option on our lunch form. Please be sure your child has money on their lunch account. You can deposit money to your child's account using the following link: Send Money to School.
We are excited to offer this easy lunch ordering opportunity. Please be sure to think and plan ahead and order on time so we can ensure we have lunches for all students who need them. Thank you for your help and cooperation.
- Lunch orders must be placed by 8:00 AM the day before you are requesting lunch.

Shawnee Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS)
The Shawnee Elementary staff are committed to helping each child reach their highest level of success through a Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS). MTSS is a comprehensive framework comprised of a collection of research-based strategies designed to meet the individual needs of the whole child. Strategies are taught during whole group instruction, small group instruction and individual instruction. In short, MTSS is the complete system of instruction that takes place at Shawnee Elementary at all grade levels each day.
At Shawnee, we recognize all children have different learning needs and styles. Staff routinely analyze assessment data to identify the specific learning needs for each student. Teachers and other staff members work together to provide small group instruction for ALL students to target specific skills or strategies. Groups are kept small, usually about 4-6 students, so that staff members focus on the common specific learning needs of the students in the group. Staff will work with ALL students to strengthen skills and provide opportunities for challenge.
We will continue to monitor the success of each student as the year progresses. Small group instruction is flexible. Staff will adjust the skills taught in the small groups in an effort to meet the ever-changing needs of the students. Students may also be placed in a group with different students or interact with several staff members throughout the year. We appreciate your support as we continue providing high-quality educational experiences to meet the academic needs of ALL students.
School-Age Child Care (SACC)
Until we reopen at Shawnee, Ojibwa SACC is available for Shawnee families. If you are interested in utilizing our alternative SACC plan at Ojibwa Elementary, please complete the registration process online, if you have not already done so.
We will continue to provide updates as we have them. Thank you for your patience and understanding as we have worked through this situation.
Help Wanted!
Please note, we are shuffling crossing guards to try to cover the most critical posts during this shortage, which may mean there are posts that are vacant. Please be extra cautious and careful when driving around our schools and adjacent neighborhoods. We appreciate your help and support in keeping our students safe.
