Returning to In-Person Learning
We are so excited to welcome most of our Patriots back to the building on Tuesday! Once again we are so impressed with our kids' resiliency and ability to adapt. We have much to learn from them!
While most of our students were with us in the building last November, we recognize that being at school may still seem new. Please reassure your child that we will spend time next week reviewing procedures and helping everyone find where they need to be. We will also be resuming our previous schedule with virtual learners next week. As a reminder, our virtual learners will "meet" their teachers at 9:00am and arrival for in-person learners begins at 9:45am.
Another new change to our schedule includes e-learning on Fridays. Students will not be in the building on Fridays, but please know they WILL be working with their teachers. Our Friday schedule will allow teachers the opportunity to meet with all students (virtual and in-person) to provide very purposeful, intensive, and response instruction. Your teacher will share your child's specific schedule with both students and families so you know exactly what to expect. The schedule for small group meetings will likely change each week, but the related arts schedule and break/lunch times will remain the same. Teachers will communicate Friday plans and expectations to families by Thursday each week. As always, please don't hesitate to reach out with questions.
We can't adequately express how much we appreciate the help that is provided from home. This has been a very challenging year, and because many of us are parents ourselves, we fully understand how impactful these challenges have been on families. Thank you for your on-going partnership, your words of encouragement, and your unending support of the teaching and learning process. The HPE community is truly special.
Counselor's Corner
Dear HPE families,
I wanted to share a brand-new resource with you! This link will take you to a resource page for students, families, and educators. I would encourage you to check it out and explore all the amazing tools available to support the mental health of our students.

Also, our first district podcast for parents (Raising HSE) is live and it features some of our school counselors talking about supporting your virtual leaner. This would be a great listen if your child is struggling with virtual learning. Here is a link to the podcast, it’s currently live on Spotify and will hopefully be loaded onto Apple podcasts and Google podcasts soon! Raising HSE - HSE Podcast
HPE Library Curbside
Do you need more books to read and enjoy at home? Virtual learners can use HSE Curbside service to borrow books from the library.
All students will be able to place up to 4 books on hold weekly. Our new pick up hours are going to be Monday- Friday from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
There will be a book cart in the front vestibule. The curbside pick up book cart is organized alphabetically by last name. All book stacks will have a name tag to help you easily locate your books.
You can just walk in, grab your book stack, and go. No need to sign in or check in with the office. There will also be a book bin for you to return materials as you finish with them.
Books will be ready for pick up the day after you place your holds. So if you place your holds on Monday, they will be ready for pick up by 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday. Books will have a two week loan period.

Support Our Library
Birthday books with donor plates are also available. You can purchase at any time, even if your child's birthday has passed. Students love seeing their name and friends' names in books in the library.
