Update from Nurse Hammons
SHOTS FOR CURRENT 6th GRADERS PREPARING for 7th GRADE
Parents of current 6th graders, please continue to turn in the two shots required for 7th grade. Turning in early is always appreciated and helps prevent a hold on your child’s schedule
What shots are needed for 7th Grade? TDAP (adacel) and MCV4 (menactra or meningococcal)
Where can parents see the immunizations once turned in? These shots are entered electronically after a record is provided and can be found in your child’s parent portal
Medications
Parents must pick up all medications/supplies by 1:00 on May 25. Any unclaimed medications will be properly disposed of after May 25.
Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month
May is Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, which celebrates the contributions of individuals from those two groups. The month of May was chosen to coincide with two important milestones in American history - the arrival in the US of the first Japanese immigrants (May 7, 1843) and contributions of Chinese workers to the building of the transcontinental railroad, completed May 10, 1869.
Throughout the month we will share inspiring quotes from some of the most influential Asian Americans through our daily announcements!
Aledo ISD Student Registration
With Aledo ISD’s rapid growth and because we are in the middle of hiring season and our administrative teams and counselors are hard at work already on master schedules and teacher and class assignments, having an accurate enrollment number for each campus is paramount. For this purpose, we ask that you please complete registration by the last day of school on Thursday, May 25!
We also ask that if you already know your non-12th-grade student will not be returning to Aledo ISD for the 2023-2024 school year, please email that information to the PEIMS clerk on your campus. For our parents of secondary students, registering your child now is different from the course selection process you completed earlier this semester; both must be completed for students to receive their schedules next year!
Attention 8th Graders
Please see the 2023 summer studies documents for the advanced RLA PAP English I. Students enrolled in advanced RLA in the 2023-24 school year will choose a book from the enclosed lists to read over the summer. Each book was chosen for its structure and author’s craft to prepare students for the work they will encounter in their next advanced RLA course. Also included in the document are highly recommended tasks that will enhance understanding of their chosen text and help them prepare for analysis of writing craft applicable to the course they are entering.
