August 2019

Welcome Back

It is a blessing to be starting the 2019-2020 school year in Blue Ridge! My family and I are excited to be a part of this fine district. My wife and I met in college at Abilene Christian University and have been married 28 years. We have two children. Grant is finishing his final semester at A&M. He will be marrying his fiance, Laura, in February. Our daughter, Sheridan, is finishing her Senior year and plans to become a teacher.

Back To School Aug 16, 2019

We are set to have an amazing year in Blue Ridge. Our staff and students have earned an "A" rating in the state accountability system. We are proud of their hard work and dedication. Additionally, our students have amazing success in a wide variety of areas including band, art, athletics, FFA and Ag, dual credit, theater, UIL academic competitions and much more.

We know success in life depends on many facets of development which are difficult to measure in the current accountability system. Our goal is to build relationships with all of our students and make sure they are connected. We aim to incorporate student voice and choice as we design our instruction and student work to enhance relevancy and student engagement. In doing all these things, we strive to develop skills in students to help them be successful in their future endeavors. It is going to be a great year in Blue Ridge ISD!!!

The Future of Work: Will Our Children Be Prepared?

Support Your BRHS Tigers

We hope to see many parents, students and community members at our volleyball games, football games, and cross country races this fall. You will see the competitive spirit alive and well from our hard working athletes and coaches!

Traffic

Please exercise patience during the first few weeks of school. Car lines, traffic on 540, Business 78, and School Street will be very busy and slow initially. We will do everything possible to expedite traffic in an orderly, safe, and efficient manner. We appreciate your support and understanding.

Dual Credit

Beginning with the 2019-2020 school year, high school students have the ability to take Dual Credit classes for free. Students will pay the initial fee and then be reimbursed at the end of the course with a final grade of a C or better. This is an amazing opportunity. See Dr. Miller, BRHS principal, or Rebecca Kay, BRHS counselor, for more details.
