Mission & Goals

Laura Meyer - February 5, 2016 - $85,161

Personal Mission Statement

My personal mission for 2015-2016 is to utilize and develop my knowledge, skill sets, and abilities as a servant leader throughout all facets of my life (faith, family, friends, community, and work) through reflection, interaction with others, and continuous learning.

Professional Goals

Goal: I will work collaboratively with district and school colleagues, parents, students, and community stakeholders in order to prepare, create and establish a state-of-the-art learning environment which welcomes and cultivates a sense of community pride and educational excellence as well as promotes a mantra that all learners will achieve and be successful.

Goal: I will find effective ways in which to "sharpen my saw" by eating right, self-reflecting, and exercising.

Weekly Summary Report

Highlights from this week:

*Bookkeeper Interviews: Tuesday, Laura Szynalski and Roxanne Hayes assisted me with interviewing 6 candidates for the SCE bookkeeper position. It was a nice pool of individuals, which made our decision less than easy; however, we all 3 agreed with our first choice, Joann Hines. She is an experienced school-level bookkeeper and a current resident of District Two. I am excited about her joining our D2 and SCE team!

*Principals Meeting: I don't normally feel the need to highlight this monthly event, but 2 things stood out at Wednesday's meeting: 1) I am finding Learning by Doing a "great, relevant read" right now for the work that will take place at SCE throughout the next year as we collaborate to establish our four 4 pillars....and 2) The Mercer Fish Fry ranked right up there with the Northwestern Ohio Knights of Columbus Lenten Fish Fry events...I even might put your fish up against theirs and wouldn't be surprised if yours came out on top! Thank you for that mid-year treat...it was excellent!

*Personnel Placement Communication: Fingers and toes crossed that this goes off without a hitch...or glitch!

- MEMOs/Videos (sent out on 2/5/16 to BSE, HES, BSI, and new SCE staff members)

*Carlisle-Foster's Grove Health & Fitness Night: Thursday evening, I stopped in at CFG for their annual Health & Fitness Night! It was, once again, awesome! Each year the event gets bigger and better! Carolyn Hendrix and her entire team always have students and parents active and smiling with activities! Getting to mingle with students, parents, friends and colleagues was great...just want I needed! A couple highlights from the night were my conversation with Harriett Belue (Belue Farms had a booth with items from their store/market). Harriett said they are wanting to "expand" and grow and would like to sit down with me to plan some events...to which, I was thrilled to accept their invitation! We chatted about their farm and the creative hay bale displays...I learned that older student submit their creative ideas and then the farm selects and creates the winning submission! How cool is that! (something like what Wade's does) I really like the aspects of healthy foods/healthy living that they could possibly bring to SCE! Another highlight from the evening was the silent auction for a variety of baskets. I was lucky to snatch the basket below for SCE!!! And afterwards found out that the contents were donated by UFRC! I love that partnership!

Next Week:

*Travel to Columbia and meet with Jenny (FF&E Meeting) - meeting her at her office to see fabrics and finalize specifications for the furniture bidding process.

*Begin preparing attendance zone parent/student letters for mailing.

*Plan first SCE Faculty gathering - hopefully, Friday, February 12th (3:00 - 4:00) at Belue Farms!!! Exciting!!
