Front Office Notes
THIS WEEK:
Future Dates:
- Dec. 19-Dec 22 Finals
- Dec. 25-Jan. 3: Christmas Break
Cold and flu season is upon us. With that being said, I wanted to include some tips to help your child stay as healthy as possible through this season. The tips and resources below provided from the CDC will help you learn about actions you can take to protect yourself and others from flu and help stop the spread of germs.
- Avoid close contact.
Avoid close contact with people who are sick. When you are sick, keep your distance from others to protect them from getting sick too. - Stay home when you are sick.
If possible, stay home from school when you are sick. This will help prevent the spread of your illness to others. Sick students with vomiting and/or a temperature of 100.4 or higher will be sent home. They cannot return until they are fever free and are not vomiting or having diarrhea for 24 hours without the use of medications such as Tylenol or Ibuprofen. - Cover your mouth and nose.
Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue when coughing or sneezing. It may prevent those around you from getting sick. Flu viruses spread mainly by droplets made when people with flu cough, sneeze, or talk. - Clean your hands.
Washing your hands often will help protect you from germs. If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand rub. - Avoid touching your eyes, nose, or mouth.
Germs can be spread when a person touches something that is contaminated with germs and then touches his or her eyes, nose, or mouth. - Practice other good health habits.
Clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces at home, work or school, especially when someone is ill. Get plenty of sleep, be physically active, manage your stress, drink plenty of fluids, and eat nutritious food.
As always, if your child is ill please call and notify the front office of your child's absence.
Mr.Wetz
Welcome back Patriot Nation! In this week’s teacher feature, we met with Mr. Wetz, Seeger’s World History and 7th grade Social Studies teacher.
To kick our interview off, I asked Mr. Wetz about the most spontaneous thing he’s ever done. He told me that in the past, he’s brought home pets to the surprise of the rest of his household. This was how he introduced Alex the cat and Maggie the dog to his household. While talking about pets, I also learned that he currently has 3 white boxers. Their names are Sugar, Delilah, and Aida, and they are bundles of energy that will happily greet anyone that walks by their yard in Pine Village.
Moving on, I inquired about Mr. Wetz’s childhood, wondering what he wanted to be as a kid. This was his response: “I often thought I might be a police officer, but as I grew up I realized that was probably not going to work for me as I am afraid of the dark.”
Finally, I wanted to know about what kinds of shows Mr. Wetz enjoyed and what he would change about them. He told me that he didn’t think he would change anything about his favorite shows, he just wished that they wouldn’t end! After shows like Friends or Frazier went off the air, he’d often find himself wondering what the characters would be doing, even though he knew that they weren’t real.
Still curious about Mr. Wetz? Here are some more tidbits from our conversation!

Kailyn Russell has been chosen for Student of the Week by Mr. Broadwater.
Kailyn talks about her favorite part of Mr. Broadwater’s class.

Kailyn tells how it feels to be Student of the Week.
“It feels weird to be Student of the Week.”
Mr. Broadwater explains what he looks for when nominating students for Student of the Week.
“I look for someone who pays attention, takes notes, and is positive in class.”
Mr. Broadwater tells what Kailyn does well in her class.
“Kailyn is great at taking notes, and paying attention, and does an awesome job at participating in lectures, asking and answering questions, as well as just being a positive person in class.”
Congratulations to Kailyn and good luck to anyone else wanting to be Student of the Week.

Girls' Basketball
The Lady Pats experienced polar opposite competition last week. Tuesday the Ladies took on South Newton. Seeger won in considerable fashion, 49-7. Nearly every Patriot made a bucket Tuesday. Most impressively though were the accumulated "hustle" stats - rebounds (30) , steals (17), and assists (14).
However when the Patriots traveled to BC on Thursday, the competition was top-notch. Every year since the 2017-2018 season, the Bison have won their sectional. Those runs have included a state finals appearance in 2018, a regional crown in 2019, and regional finals appearances the last two seasons. The loss Thursday provided great experience for the underclassmen and a reminder to the upperclassmen to continue pursuing goals and leading by example and conviction.
The Ladies (2-1) are on the road still with South Vermillion and Salt Fork (IL) this week.
Good Luck!
Wrestling
Wrestling is a full-go! We are traveling to Delphi on Nov. 18 for the Oracle Invitational.
