CLASSIFIED STAFF WORK SCHEDULE FOR APRIL 2
April 2 is a “no school” day. It is also designated as a non-duty/non-paid day for classified building staff members, other than custodial staff. Please be sure to share this information with your staff.
Blended Learning Symposium – April 27-Need 2 building reps
McGraw-Hill has partnered with SMSD to host a Blended Learning Symposium featuring keynote speaker, Catlin Tucker, on April 27th at the CAA. Registration begins at 8:00. Buildings are able to send two teachers to the symposium.
Please let me know if you are interested! You must be willing to obtain the information and present it at a staff meeting for everyone to hear what was learned. Please email me that you are interested and I will add your name to the list. If we have more than 2 people, I will draw names from a hat, or use a randomizer, to pick our representatives.
Reminder: Birthday Treat Sharing
ELL Instructional Tip of the Week
Consider before assignment work how you might need to adjust or modify the assignment. Consider things like: providing text at a lower reading level, presenting the directions on assignments in clear concise steps, Cut to the chase (if the ELL student is struggling to read or write in English, consider exactly what parts of the assignment need to be done for them to demonstrate their understanding). It can be exhausting to produce work in a language that is not their own, so having them do additional work just for the sake of “completing the entire assignment” may not be necessary.
