Hawthorne Happenings

Week of 3/20-3/21

Hello all,

Here are the highlights from last week:

  • Fire Drill - Great job getting the kids out of the building quickly! We made record time again in clearing the building. I really like our color card system. From my side, it makes it so much easier to quickly see if anyone is in need of assistance.
  • St. Patrick's Day - It was fun to see how excited our kids were about trying to capture leprechauns. There were traps set, rooms turned upside down, paint footprints on floors and tables, and all sorts of other mischief. Our students really enjoyed it! Those are things our students will remember and help them make positive connections to school. I appreciate you all putting in the time to have fun like this.

Once again, our Little Chiefs have earned a school-wide incentive by filling the building bucket!! Tuesday, we will have a Snowball tournament. Please remember that PE specials will be with Art watching a movie to keep the gym open all day. This will be a tight schedule so please head down only a minute or two before your event. Mr. Weis or Mr. Marsden will be giving out the names of the students who did not earn the reward. These student will be working with Mrs. Tackes to reteach the expectations during the snowball tournament. Here is the schedule:

Parent/Teacher Conferences

Conferences are Tuesday from 1:30-9:30. If you have not already confirmed appointment times with parents, please make sure to do so. Also, remember if you need me to attend any of your conferences, please make sure to let me know so that I can schedule it in.

Spring Break

Spring break is next Wednesday, March 22nd through Sunday, March 26th. Enjoy the time off with family and come back ready to knock out the last 9 weeks of school. It's unbelievable that we're already that close to the end of the year.

March Madness Challenge

Well, I think it's safe to say that I will not be winning the bracket challenge this year. Two of my Final Four teams are already out. The second round is still in progress, but there will be some shakeups in the leaderboard for sure with Villanova and Lousiville going down. Here is the current leaderboard through the first round:
