Important Instructional Levers and Look For:
WEEKLY Instructional LOOK-FORS:
- Instruction must be bell to bell.
- Vocabulary, vocabulary, vocabulary-- Vocabulary is one of our lowest scoring areas building wide- we must continuously ensure we are providing vocabulary rich classrooms.
- Writing across all content areas-- ensure that you plan for writing throughout your day.
- Begin planning your stations/task menus (Instructional activities, process, expectations and transitions).
- Connective Purpose Statements (I Can Statements and objectives) up daily in classrooms.
- Update your Master trackers for ELA and MATH on a daily basis.
- Checking for Understanding- We will be looking for both formal and informal CFU's. We expect to see some type of check for understanding every 8-10 minutes throughout a lesson.
Shout Outs!
- Mr. Cherry , Ms. Wilson and Ms, Tillman, Ms. Egli, and Ms. Baird- Spending the additional time to interview 6th grade ambassadors. The students interviewed so well, which made it very tough to decide who our future Ambassadors would be.
- Ms. Tillman and Mrs. Quigley- Stepping in to assist with our most challenging students.
- Mr Tito- for building an amazing bridge of communication with our students and families.
- Mrs. Castle- for having an effective and top notch community circle, that sets the precedent for the students entire day.
- Ms. Schutte- for being ALL IN for Restorative practices. Restorative Practices can be observed throughout the school day in her classroom.
Weekly Cultural LOOK-FORS:
- Teachers and Students continue to model and practice School Wide and classroom Expectations according to the Wildcat Matrix.
- Use of Dojo points and ROAR Tickets to continue to positively reinforce behavior. We will hold end of the month class parties this week for each grade level with the most ROAR tickets-- the expectation is that all classes use both Dojo and ROAR tickets.
- Use of Community circle, Pulse check, and 2 minute connection to build relationships with students. Administration will continue to look for these practices being used within the classroom.
- Please make sure that we are using the walkie-talkies for Level III offenses, nurse or buddy room escorts. For minor infractions in the classroom setting (use your restorative practices, safe seat, buddy rooms) before calling for administration or sending students to the office. (No student will be sent to the office unless brought be an administrator).
