From our Family Coordinator...
Hi Charger Families!!
It has been wonderful to have your children in the halls of Chiddix Junior High these past weeks. Thank you for all you have done and will continue to do to support your child's education. You are the real MVP!! This year, Chiddix will again partner with Midwest Food Bank and Eastview Church to offer some supplemental snacks over the weekend to qualifying students. BUT this year we are changing the format. Every other Thursday, students who have the need may come and select a few snack items that they will then bring home in their own backpack. If you are interested in having your child participate, please email Kelly at winterk@unit5.org
Kelly's Pro Tips for a great school year:
- Follow McLean County U5 on Facebook for all the Unit 5 info and updates
- Don't forget to sign up for free and reduced lunches if you qualify. This will prevent a negative lunch balance.
- Encourage your child to get a good night's sleep. I am a night owl myself so I get it, it's hard to get back on school schedule, but think of it this way...you know when your cell phone gets all messed up and just doesn't work right and you turn it off for a bit and then turn it back on and magically everything works again. That's what sleep does for the body, ESPECIALLY the body of a growing and changing adolescent.
- Is your child struggling with school avoidance? Reach out!!! I am here to support you and your family and want to help make your child feel comfortable and safe at school.
Thank you for all you do!!!
