Principal Newsletter

From the Desk of Mrs. Riley

September 20, 2018

Dear Parents,

It was a pleasure seeing so many of our parents at Back to School Night last night for our K through 4th grade. We are so thankful for all of the many wonderful comments about our new Digital Learning Commons and Kindergarten classroom! We look forward to welcoming our 5th through 8th grade parents this evening!

There is one very important piece of information that I am sharing at each Back to School Night. Our Lady of Good Counsel School is accredited through the Middle States Association Commission on Elementary and Secondary Schools. That accreditation is set to expire next year. During this school year, the 2018-2019 school year, OLGC will begin seeking re- accreditation by conducting a very vigorous and intensive self study. This will allow us to carry out a review of our current procedures, assess ourselves against the standards of our peers, and put in place an action plan for future improvement. Seeking this accreditation is a two year process that will culminate in a visit by a team of external evaluators. There are criteria and benchmarks that must be met in order for us to receive this accreditation.

In approximately three weeks, I will be releasing a survey to parents to aid in this self study process. You will be able to access this survey through a link embedded in the Principal's Newsletter. This survey will be active for a two week period. We will also be looking for a few parent volunteers to serve on subcommittees alongside our faculty. Please keep an eye out for more information over the coming weeks.

Thank you for your constant support and prayers for our school. I encourage you to continue to support our work as we advance our mission to provide a transformative education steeped in academics and faith to our deserving students. There is no greater investment for forming our future saints than a Catholic education!

Please carefully review this week's newsletter for many reminders and updates. We thank you for entrusting your children to us and for the sacrifices you make each day to send your child(ren) to Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic School.

God’s Peace,

Mrs. Barbara Riley

Principal

Box Tops for Education

Contest Details

Our Box Top contest for this year will be unveiled at September's Community Homeroom. As a reminder, in order to qualify for the contest your child's box tops must be glued to a collection sheet and not contain expired box tops. The General Mills Corporation that organizes the Box Top Program has processing guidelines that need to be followed in order to receive monetary credit. Use of collection sheets greatly aides us in the processing task. However, we do not want to discourage the submission of loose box tops. If you do not want to participate in the contest, please continue to collect and send the box tops in a plastic bag or envelope.

Each box top is worth ten cents. Our school received over $1600.00 from Box Tops last year. Thank you for supporting this very important fundraiser!

Collection Sheets

Each sheet is worth 25 box tops. In order to receive credit for Box Tops that your child(ren) want to bring back into school, your child’s name, grade & homeroom needs to be visibly written on the Box Tops sheet. There are times when BONUS points or certificates are issued. Please affix those on a separate sheet of paper and don’t forget to write your child’s name on the sheet.
