Principal Welcome Back to Families
Back to School Newsletter 2022-2023
Creek Families,
Let us be the first to say “welcome” to Mustang Creek Elementary! At Creek, our students have PRIDE - Purpose, Respect, Integrity, Determination, and Enthusiasm. Our remarkable staff, involved parents, and committed students come together to make Creek a wonderful and unique place. We invite you to become an active participant in our school community through volunteering. Research clearly supports that when parents/guardians participate and are involved in their child’s education, there is a greater likelihood of academic success for the child.
We are excited to get to know your family, and know that through the combined efforts of home and school, your child will have a successful school year!
Yours in education,
Leah Anderson, Principal
Kayleen Browning, Assistant Principal
Residency Verification
Residency Verification - August 9th from 11:00a-7:00p
We require all students to verify their residency in August of each year.
Residency Verification will be held at your child’s home school on August 9, 2022 between 11:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. You will need to bring a current utility bill in the Parent/Guardian's name (from July or August) and have a valid driver’s license or state issued ID card.
One proof of residency will be required. Acceptable proofs include:
- Gas bill
- Water bill
- Electric bills
- Warranty deed statement
- Ad-valorem tax statement
- Mortgage statement
- Lease agreement- Lease agreements MUST list all occupants of residence, including children.
If utility bills are not available, the district will accept a statement from the utility company that service has been established. The letter must be on letterhead and signed by an appropriate official. Utility cut-off notices, telephone, internet, cable bills and driver’s licenses will not be accepted as proof of residency.
Open House
How will I find out who my child’s teacher is?
We know how exciting it is to hear from your teacher!
You will be notified via email or phone call prior to Open House on August 16th.
If your phone and email is not up to date please contact the Mustang Creek Office 405-324-4567
If you have not heard who your child’s teacher is by 8:00 AM on August 16th, please contact the school office on that morning and that information will be provided for you!
What will Open House look like and will I get to meet my child’s teacher?
On August 16th, students will have the opportunity to meet their teacher and drop off their school supplies. This is always an exciting time!
Parents will need to pick up and complete their child’s packet from their teacher. It will include:
Dismissal tags will be given to all families even if students are not car riders. Tags will be used if your child needs to be a car rider, picked up early through the office, etc. Every family will be assigned a number. Bronco Club will have their own pick up tag.
A “first day of school” sticker. Since parents are not allowed into school the first day, this sticker will help staff get each student to their classroom. This sticker will have the student’s name, grade, teacher, and how they are going home the first three days of school

Transportation - MPS Buses Are Safest Way To School
MPS Buses Are Safest Way To School
Mustang Public School’s buses are the safest way to get to and from school each day. Statistics from the School Bus Information Council show that buses are safer for students than airlines, passenger trains and passenger cars, which have the highest injury rate.
Mustang’s bus drivers go through strict training, which includes written tests as well as driving instruction and a driving test. New bus drivers will have a minimum of 15 hours on-the-road training with Mustang transportation department staff before they begin transporting children. Training is provided in-house.
Besides the benefits of safety, when more students ride the bus it significantly reduces congestion around the schools. It is also means a gas savings for parents.

CAR RIDER LINE - AM DROP OFF PROCEDURES
We want to make certain to make the car line move as quick and efficient as possible.
Please ensure the following during morning drop off:
- When your car pulls to the curb, please ensure your child has all items ready to go so they are not packing items when it is time to exit the vehicle.
- When your car pulls to the curb, please do not wait for a staff member to open the car door. Please have your children open the car door and exit the car immediately.
- After your child has exited the vehicle safely, please proceed to the exit. Please do not wait until your child enters the school building as this causes everyone behind your vehicle to wait.
Please do not park across the street and walk students to and from the school. SW 15th is very busy during the morning and afternoons. Please follow the car rider line procedures.
Also, please do not park and walk up to the car rider doors. Students will only be released to the correct mode of transportation.
Just a reminder if you would rather not participate in the car rider line Mustang Public Schools provides bus transportation for all students. For the morning they just need to be at the bus stop by their designated time and in the afternoon please contact the office no later than 1:30 on the day you would like them to start riding the bus so they will have enough time to relay the change in transportation to the teacher and student.
Thank you so much for your cooperation! We strive to have safe and efficient procedures!

- While you are waiting in the car line please turn on your hazard lights so cars traveling down the street know they can safely pass.
- If you need to buckle your child please pull into one of the available parking spots so traffic can continue to flow.

CAR RIDER LINE DISMISSAL INFORMATION
1. Please make sure to have your ‘pick-up’ card displayed in your front window when entering the dismissal line. Please keep your card displayed until you child has been loaded into your car.
2. Please stay in-line (no passing) during dismissal as the children will be instructed to walk to specific spots for loading.
3. If your student does not arrive at the loading spot before you do, you may be instructed to move to a "waiting" area where your child will be notified again. We ask you to move to this area so that we do not hold up the remaining dismissal line.
Finally, we ask for your patience the first couple of days that we implement this new process. The administrators and teachers are committed to making this process beneficial to all parties. Please visit www.safeDISMISSAL.com for more information
