School Counseling News!
End of the 9 Weeks
Report Cards will be posted on February 8th at 4pm in Student/Parent Vue.
Scheduling
For all scheduling information please visit the Counseling Scheduling site . Current 9th and 10th grade students should be filling out their 4 year Plan of Studies and working with parents on selecting courses for next year. This upcoming week February 8th -11th counselors will start meeting with 9th and 10th grade students through HPE. We will follow up with any students who are not in PE this year. Please have your Plan of Studies ready for these meeting. Juniors will sign up for their meeting with counselors. Here is that link . Starting February 14th Juniors will be able to book their meetings with their counselor. Right now the link is active but now appointments are open until we finish with 9th and 10th grades.

We met our 80% goal for college applications. Please get your materials in ASAP for the February deadlines!!! Many colleges are still accepting applications. Here is a list of colleges with rolling or late admission deadlines. Seniors if you have received acceptance letters please share them with Mrs. Barnes.

AP Exam News!
AP Exam Fees
Beginning with School Year 2021-2022, Loudoun County Public Schools will pay for up to four AP tests, per enrolled student, for the duration of their high school tenure. After those four, students, parents, and/or guardians are responsible for all financial obligations, the exception being students who are eligible for free or reduced lunch. Each exam is $87.00, except for AP Seminar and AP Research, which are $135.00.
Students who are scheduled to take more than (4) AP exams or owe a late registration fee ($40/ per exam) or a cancellation fee ($40/ per exam) were emailed by our AP Coordinator, Mrs. Blessing. If your student has dropped an AP course they were contacted to pay an exam cancellation fee. All AP exam fees are due by Friday, March 11th and must be paid through the shared OSP portal link with a credit card. Contact Kathryn.blessing@lcps.org with any questions.
Math Help AVAILABLE!
Students can get help with their homework from math teachers and tutors during their study hall - request a pass from your math teacher.
In addition to the math help offered during every study hall block, our Math Department is also offering help for Algebra 1, Geometry and Algebra 2 students after school each week.
· Algebra 1 students can get help every Thursday in room 1208 after school until 5 PM.
· Geometry students can get help every Thursday in room 1213 after school until 5 PM.
· Algebra 2 students can get help every Monday in room 1211 until 5 PM.
No pass or reservation is required – just come with your notes, homework and questions!
Please see your math teacher if you have any questions about getting extra help during your study hall or after school.

BLACK HISTORY MONTH
- The PTSO wishes to recognize and celebrate Black History Month!
- Black history has often been underrepresented, ignored, appropriated, or even misrepresented rather than recognized and celebrated.
- Check out the PTSO’s Instagram and Facebook highlighting remarkable African American individuals who have made a difference in our society.
- The PTSO is also proud to see that RRHS is offering a new course next year, African American History (Honors).

COURTYARD TRANSFORMATION PROJECT
- YOUR help is NEEDED!
- Project Manager - to oversee and guide the project with the support of the PTSO
- Team of Volunteers - to help with some of the work to be done, such a laying pavers.
- Student volunteers - may be able to receive service hours.

COMING SOON
- Graduation Signs – The PTSO will be selling signs to honor our Senior Class of ’22. Options will be available to purchase a personalized sign honoring your Senior or the Class of ’22 as a whole.
- Senior Celebration - Funds raised from the sale of signs will support a fun, outdoor senior graduation event for the entire Senior Class following graduation rehearsal.
- Senior Scholarships – The PTSO will be offering a scholarship opportunity for Seniors who are members of the PTSO.
- Scholarship Committee Volunteers Needed – Open to PTSO Members of a child in 9-11th grades only. If interested, please email Drenica Brunson, VP of Membership at Membership@rrhsptso.org.
- Parent Social – The PTSO is working to arrange a webinar with guest speakers for the next social.

EL Family News!
To our EL Students and Families:
The Division of English Learners Family and Community Engagement (FACE) office is pleased to invite you to the WIDA Family and Student Workshop on Thursday February 10th, to gather virtually via Google Meet: meet.google.com/dav-jvhk-zfa. This workshop was originally planned to be held at Smart’s Mill MS; however, due to the recent surge in COVID cases and with an abundance of caution for our students, families, and staff in mind we have pivoted to a virtual platform.
The WIDA Family and Student workshop will be held in English with interpretation in Spanish from 6p-7pm and repeat in English and Arabic from 7pm-8pm.
This session will be recorded and available on our FACE Website with additional translations in Farsi, Urdu and Vietnamese available by the end of February.
