This Week in Kindergarten
This was a short week due to the Monday holiday, but we packed in plenty of learning. The students reading and writing stamina is increasing daily and, what's really exciting, is they are noticing. In science, we have started talking about characteristics that distinguish living things from non-living things. This kind of inquiry will help us transition to learning about the plant Life Cycle. It wouldn't be a complete week without lots and lots of singing. We love singing the familiar songs about colors and the calendar.

Kindergarten Lock-In
The annual Kindergarten Lock-In is Friday, October 21. Permission forms came home this week. Please sign and return the permission slip along with $20 if your child plans to attend. You will drop off and pick up in the cafeteria, where we’ll be spending time dancing, reading and talking about the special evening. When everyone arrives, we will start the celebration with a warm cookie and milk because, after all, who wouldn't want a yummy treat, especially when wearing pajamas? The Lock-In is a long standing tradition in Kindergarten that children talk about for years. Don't miss the fun which lasts from 6:00 - 9:00PM. Please note: The deadline for returning forms and money is Mon., October 17.
Thank You
Thank you to the many parent volunteers we had this week. Learning Buddy in the hallway, Teacher Helper at home or school, Lunch Helper in the cafeteria and Mystery Reader are all vital to the complete learning experience. We appreciate you and your talents and the children really notice when you are here.

Parent/Student Fall Conferences
If you were out of town on Conference Day, please make sure you are in touch with your child's teacher to arrange a fall conference. We know you will be amazed at seeing the goals your child has written and the growth in their writing and learning journals.
