English Language Learner Reclassification Criteria 2020-2021

Recently, the VUSD School Board approved the Reclassification Criteria for 2020-2021. Please read the attached document to find out more about how ELL students reclassify.

Dear Bobier Families,

There are many ways to support your English Language Learner while they develop their oral language and reading skills.

  1. Storytelling: share stories from your culture, encourage discussion.

  2. Read Wordless picture books. This is a fun way for parents and children to sit down with books and talk about the stories.

  3. Say rhymes and sing songs: These can help develop their oral language skills, such as tone and word stress.

  4. Visit the local library to encourage a love of reading.

  5. Engage in conversation: Ask questions and encourage detailed answers.

The resources linked below provide information about how you can help build your child's reading and language skills at home. These resources will help you find tips and activities to help your child learn at home.
