Where do I start on February 22?

For Families NEW to Lake Travis ISD

  1. The first step is to request a Skyward Family Access login account using a valid email address. You may obtain a free email account through services such as Hotmail, Yahoo or Google.
  2. Your login and password will be sent to this email address.
  3. Use the link in the email to log in and begin the process.
  4. The email will be sent from Skyward@ltisdschools.org. Be sure to add this email address to your valid email recipients to avoid it being affected by your spam filter.

After logging into Family Access, choose "New Student Enrollment" by clicking the down arrow next to the house icon.

Screen By Screen assistance is available

*But what if I need help or don't have a way to fill out the forms online?

No problem!! On February 24, between the hours of 4 and 6:30 pm, WCHE will be hosting an in person event in the school Library. Just look for the sign on the library gate near the flagpole.

The purpose of this event is to ensure your student's enrollment is complete with the required documents. As we are not accepting paper enrollment forms, parents are welcome to use our Library computers to complete their online enrollment. We will have staff members available to scan or copy enrollment documents and to verify that all documents have been uploaded and that enrollment is complete. We will also have the nurse in attendance to check immunizations.

Applications Accepted for Qualifying PreK Starting March 28

Applications Accepted for Tuition PreK Starting April 1 at 10 am

What about Returning Tigers?

We will ask our returning Tigers to update their student information and complete their online returning student re-enrollment toward the end of summer.

Tiger 4th Graders Alexis Ribble, Stella Szastak, Isaac Carlisle, and Luke Hatfield demonstrate the art of weaving.

We anticipate having impressive displays in the hallways soon!

Tigers Embrace Black History Month

Our Tigers are excited about Black History Month. They will learn about a famous historical or modern Black American each school day in our February morning broadcasts. Tigers will be working on grade-level projects, too, and we will display photos of their projects throughout the month of February. Our Tiger Projects are:

Kindergarten and 1st Grade report that they are working on "I Have a Dream" writing projects.

They made "I Have a Dream" student pictures, and each student's dream has been placed in a speech bubble above his/her picture. See a photo of their most excellent work below.

Big picture

2nd Grade displayed a George Washington Carver project in the hallway. They plan to expand the scope of that project to include other significant historical figures. As you can see from the display shown below, they have been working very hard to make this project a huge success. Nice work, Tiger 2nd Grade!

Big picture

3rd Grade is researching and writing biographies of famous Black Americans. They are displaying what they learn in life-sized cutouts that include key biographical information. See great samples of their work below.

4th Grade is locating and displaying newspaper articles from Texas History. See the results of some of their research below. Thank you, Tiger 4th Grade! We are learning a lot from your interesting and informative articles and pictures.

5th Grade students are studying and writing about famous Black Americans to better understand the contributions they have made within our history. The pieces they write will be fitted together in a large quilt to demonstrate how all of our American history is woven together. See the photo below of the "quilt" that is displayed in our main hallway. Additional "quilts" are also on display in the 5th Grade neighborhood. Nice work, ladies and gentlemen of the 5th Grade!

Be on the Lookout for LTISD Bus Transportation Updates

One might think that our school bus drivers would be immune to anything and everything that could be thrown their way, BUT, from time to time, LTISD bus drivers do need to take a sick day, and at this time the District is not always able to provide a substitute bus driver quickly enough to cover the route.

As a result, there are times when SMARTTag and/or LTISD will notify parents that bus service could be delayed or that bus service for a particular route is canceled. Even though the disruption to service happens very infrequently, it's still an inconvenience when it happens to you and your Tiger(s.) We apologize.

Please be sure to pay close attention to SMARTTag and/or LTISD transportation alerts and updates so that you will know if/when disruption to your service has occurred.

5th to 6th Grade Transition to Middle School

It's hard to believe, but it is time to start thinking about our sweet 5th graders moving into middle school. The elementary and middle school principals and counselors have been hard at work planning out a timeline to make this time informational and simple for you.

Feb.1 - Middle School Course Catalogs are available online

Feb. 15 - 5th Graders visit the middle school for which they are CURRENTLY zoned. They will come with their elementary classes on a school bus. This event is from 9-11. This is a student only trip, not a parent event. Students will hear all about middle school, class options, learn about fine arts, electives, and PE classes.

Feb. 15 - Feb. 27 - Students take home paper student course selection sheets (yellow.)

Feb. 15 - Mar. 7 - Course Selection is open.

Feb. 23, 5:30 PM-7:00 PM - MS Principals host Parent Night.

Parent Night @ Lake Travis Middle School is an in person parent/student event with the administration and counselors. The meeting will begin at 5:30 PM in the large gym. You will learn more about the opportunities available to your students as they begin their middle school tenure as well as the structure of a middle school day. Topics that will be discussed are course selection options, including elective/fine arts and PE classes this will help you and your student to make an informed decision on courses for 6th grade.

Feb. 28 - Paper course selection sheet is due. Be sure to turn it in to the current 5th grade homeroom teacher.

Mar. 1 - Mar. 7 - Students and Elementary Counselors work together to input course selections into Skyward.

Spring Gifted/Talented Nominations for Students Enrolled After October 15, 2021

Dear Parents,

Each year LTISD offers an opportunity for students to be assessed for our GT/Discovery Program. This takes place during the first grading period. However, some students enrolled after that fall deadline,

Every district has different requirements for its GT program. LTISD has a four-part qualification process. Students are assessed in four categories and must achieve qualifying marks in three out of the four categories. We assess cognitive abilities, academic achievement, creativity, as well as qualitative data.

Our program is a project-based, pull-out program. It is not an academically accelerated program. Typically, students come to the GT/Discovery classroom during a designated time during the school day where we work on cognitive abilities, various projects, programming, creative mindset, etc.

Please let me know if you have any questions about our program. If you feel that your child is a good candidate for GT testing, please complete the nomination form located on the LTISD GT information page. Please note that Thursday, March 10, 2022, is the deadline for spring referrals for recently enrolled students.

Thank you,

Ms. Serhus
