West Oxford Owl
January 12, 2024
This week has been a whirlwind of weather events, assessments, and hands on learning experiences. Our fifth grade students made paper airplanes to calculate the rate of speed. Our kindergarteners read poems about snowmen. Our third grade is working on cursive handwriting. We had 67 fathers join us for All Pro Dad's breakfast Tuesday despite terrible weather conditions. Thank you for coming. We loved having you here!
On Monday, there is no school as we celebrate a day of service remembering Dr. Martin Luther King. Our students have been learning about his legacy and how to be worldchangers that advocate for peace and justice in their own communities.
This week, we will continue taking our mid year assessments in math and reading. Please encourage your students to take their time and do their best. These tell us what students know and will show us how much they have grown. We can't wait to celebrate their progress with you!
Our rescheduled PTO meeting is January 17th at 6:00 in our media center. All parents are invited to join us.
Thursday, January 18th is an early release day, and we will send home report cards with students. We will have conferences on February 1st.
