DON'T LET COVID-19 HIJACK YOUR DAY!
A Note from Mr. Shaffer
Happy Friday! It's hard to believe that today is the start of May! Thank you for a great first year as principal of Worcester, especially given our challenging circumstances!
Teacher Appreciation Week begins on Monday, May 4th. Please consider reaching out to our Worcester Team to share kind messages and thoughts of encouragement. For me, I would like to thank our teachers for their resilience, dedication, and collaboration! I feel equally thankful for our support staff who continually impress me with their willingness to extend a hand to our teachers and to one another! I am truly grateful to be a part of this amazing team!
I would also like to thank our families for their continued support and patience as we all adjust to virtual learning. I have found myself reflecting often about the importance of accepting one another for who we are and for where we are in our lives. I know my life is much different now with three little kids than it was just ten short years ago. I applaud our families who have successfully implemented a daily schedule. I would also like to encourage those families who are still working on it to continue their efforts. For me, the juggling act is still a work in progress, but that's okay! Regardless of the circumstances, please give yourselves the credit that you deserve for doing the best you can each and every day . . . And thank you for welcoming me into this great learning community!
Please join us in our efforts to remain connected and consider submitting a Flipgrid video. Please click the links below to access our "Say Hello" video and our "Be Kind and Spread Joy" playlist. You're also welcome to add a video or picture.

A MESSAGE FROM MRS. SNYDER
On Saturday, April 25, CNN partnered with Sesame Street for a special town hall about coronavirus, focused on kids and parents. "The ABC's of Covid 19: A CNN/Sesame Street Town Hall for Kids and Parents" tackled issues including education, anxiety, screen time and playdates. The 90-minute town hall featured experts and Sesame Street characters -- including Elmo, Abby Cadabby, Rosita and Grover -- answering questions submitted by families. Big Bird even joined CNN chief medical correspondent Dr. Sanjay Gupta and CNN anchor and national correspondent Erica Hill to moderate the event. Here is the link to watch the special presentation: https://www.cnn.com/2020/04/25/app-news-section/cnn-sesame-street-coronavirus-town-hall-april-25-2020-app/index.html
This week, we will continue school-wide Flipgrid activity highlighting music. We encourage you to capture your child/children or even whole family (that includes you, parents and caregivers!) sharing yourselves singing, dancing, and/or playing an instrument. Worcester Elementary School staff are already working on our videos. If you need a little inspiration, please check out Jimmy Fallon & The Roots performing "Safety Dance" with first responders: https://youtu.be/la1q1aRUaNg
To begin recording, please click the link below to access Flipgrid, and then tap the plus sign to record and upload a short video or picture. You can record for a maximum of a minute and a half.
