St. Columba's Primary School
NEWSLETTER | TERM 3 | WEEK 6 | 25 AUGUST 2022

From the Principal
Dear Parents and Carers,
Our School Choir performed on Tuesday at the CEWA Performing Arts in Balcatta and they were a credit to the school and Mrs McDonald. The performance was exceptional and a huge thank you to Mrs McDonald for her time and effort with rehearsals and Mr Moore playing the piano so beautifully. They were the standout performance for that day!
The Year 6 students participated in an interschool sports day on Tuesday at the Morris Buzacott oval in Kardinya. The students sportsmanship was outstanding and everyone gave their all in the games.
Congratulations to the Yr 6 Modcrosse team as they came home with a trophy for winning the most number of games.
Many thanks to Mrs Shaw, Mrs Ogg, and Mr Beins on organising the Book Week parade and
activities. The student parade showed off some amazing costumes and many thanks to families for the work put into organising the student costumes. Also, thanks to the staff for their outstanding skit and the Yr 6 students organising the classes for their parade.
A reminder of the upcoming Father’s Day breakfast on Friday, 2 September.
The P&F have been very active in organising. Thanks go to the P&F reps for making this happen.
There will be a P&F meeting on Tuesday, 30 August in the school staffroom.
On Wednesday, 31 August there is a School Advisory Council meeting in the school staffroom at 7:00pm.
God Bless and keep safe.

Father’s Day Breakfast – Friday 2 September
The P & F are excited to invite all Fathers and Father Figures with Children in Pre-Primary to Year 6 to a Sausage Sizzle Breakfast next Friday 2 September from 7:30-9:00am in Kalyara Mia (Covered Assembly Area).
To pump up the atmosphere kids are encouraged to dress in their Superhero best and can stay in these costumes for the duration of the day. Dads are also welcome to dress up as well! Who doesn’t love to dress up as Batman or Superman right?
Please note the Drive Through will be closed on Friday morning from 7:30am to allow Dads and Children to spread out onto the top oval as needed.

Students not returning in 2023 - complete the form (Pre-Kindy to Year 5)
To assist us with planning for next year, please complete the form below if your child is not returning to St Columba’s next year (if you haven’t already done so). Families are obliged to provide at least one term’s notice in writing of their intention to remove a child from the school, otherwise a full term’s fees may be charged.

Play School appearance
A few months ago Hana from Pre-Primary created a short video to submit to Play School on ABC kids. Hana was selected and her video was part of a short two minute montage on how to make a movie. The "Through the Windows" segment will air tomorrow on ABC kids at 9am as part of the "Lights Camera Action" episode of Play School. Hana is so excited to be on TV, especially as Play School is her favourite show!
It can also be viewed here now (through an iview account) https://iview.abc.net.au/show/play-school-through-the-windows/series/0/video/CK2108H010S00

Sr Maree Golden Jubilee Morning Tea
On Wednesday 24 August the staff surprised Sr Maree with a special morning tea to celebrate her Golden Jubilee year. We are so blessed to have such a strong relationship with the Parish and Josephites, who play an important role in the faith formation of our school.
Congratulations Sr Maree! 50 years is such an amazing feat!

P&F News
Hi Everyone,
I hope your children had fun on Monday with the book week dress up. What a great way to start the week!
Just to let everyone know, orders for tea towels and melamine plates have now closed. However, cards that count purchasing has now opened! Another great St Columba’s tradition.
Your children would have come home with a piece of paper with their unique code and information for ordering. If you have any issues, please let me know. You have until Friday, 2 September to place your orders.
The Colour Run registrations are in full swing. Please ensure you sign your children up ASAP so they can join in the fun leading up until the event. Please reach out to myself or the year 2 P&F reps if you have any issues.
Our next meeting is Tuesday, 30 August at 7pm in the staff room.
Looking forward to another great meeting.
Thanks,
Hayley Mitchell
P&F President

Well done to 2G who were a close 2nd and Kindy W who were just behind in 3rd Spot!
Keep up the great work! WHO WILL WIN WEEK 2?

We will coordinate at an upcoming Assembly to present the 2022 winner and perpetual trophy.
As mentioned in earlier newsletters I am hanging up the DOSCA tipping boots and appreciate the offer from Santhosh P to take up DOSCA Tipping into 2023.
All the very best and as always happy tipping!
